Starting up after sitting for up to 7 months?

That’s some politician math right there. 17 + 140 + 65 = $17! I joke I joke, glad you got your rig in good working order. For what it’s worth I rebuilt my quadrajet this year with a kit from quadrajet power ($40 I think) and I made a world of difference.

No Start and have adjusted switches

No crank Vs No start. it sounds like you are describing a " no Crank" situation. you have battery power and when you attempt to start the truck the engine does not truck over correct? to me this identifies the problem is in the starter circuit between the ignition switch and the starter. the...

    Emissions issue

This doesn’t look right. This part should be a manifold vacuum T The pic appears to show a thermal vacuum switch which uses engine coolant temp to turn those vacuum ports on and off.

    Emissions issue

Above is my hand drawn vacume routing for my sbc 350 after deleting the smog pump and associated valves. ( although I retained the egr ) I hope the above is of some use to you. I think restoring to factory or deletion the unnecessary equipment are about the same amount of work ( give or take )...

Poll: What '70s/'80s pickup would you own if a GM square wasn't an option?

I sure like having a distributor on the front of the engine though.

    Another oil pressure gauge thread

I think I found my answer in the attached pic and the thread linked below. At this point I think the culprit is a bad wire. https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/oil-pressure-gauge-troubleshooting.17296/

    Another oil pressure gauge thread

This seems like a relevant thread to jump onto. I’m having a similar issue and want to test a used gauge before I open up the dashboard I can see by looking at the back of the gauge that the bottom is ground but which terminal is keyed power and which connects to the sensor?

    Plugs

How much, if any difference do standard plugs make in a standard performance engine? I’m ignorant to the ins and outs of plugs but my thought is that they’ve must’ve figured them out by now

    Oil pressure sensor 305 / 350

1985 c10 I swapped my 305 for a new 350. And relocated the oil pressure sensor from behind the distributor to above the oil filter. FYI to plug the oil suppy hole behind the distributor you will need a 1/8 NPT plug, they can be had at any hardware store for 5$ or so. To mount the sender to...

    Things I wish I knew

Recently completed an engine build and like the title says…. Concerning aluminum intakes or in my case a used edelbrock performer. I wish I had drilled and heli-coiled the water neck and distributor bolt holes BEFORE I installed the engine. Note to self aluminum intakes and steel bolts...

What is this wire / connector

Bringing this thread to the top again as I’m curious Showing my ignorant here but. Don’t automatics have neutral safety switches? Isn’t that why the truck won’t start when in gear?

    What is this device?

It looks like a Solenoid to me when power is applied it should allow flow. Why? No idea. I’m curious to know when power is applied. My guess is that it doesn’t belong. On another note your battery terminals look like they are arcing. Clean them nice and reassemble tight. Battery clamps do wear...

    Manifold vacuum Tee

You are correct on that, the issue that I’m having is because of that bend in the photo. The Tee effectively bottoms out so the additional rotation is likely to strip the threads on the aluminum intake. I do have Teflon tape and will certainly do 2 wraps. You guys have been super helpful. I...

    Manifold vacuum Tee

Appreciate the pointers gents, The truck isn’t a 100 point restoration, it’s a very nice 85 that was underpowered. Upgraded to a mild 350 and I’m trying to have it as clean / professional and era appropriate as possible. I’m gonna try the corvette link since it is probably my best no risk...

    Manifold vacuum Tee

Gents, I’m looking to replace this manifold Tee off of my 1985 305 The tee came off of my factory intake and won’t tighten well on my aluminum performer intake.
