Hello all. New member as of today. Just finished frame off 1976 K10 resto. Looking for recommendation on diff covers for Dana44 10 bolt front and G.M. corp. 12 bolt rear. The cheap chrome ones leak no matter what we do to seal them. I would prefer GM NOS but cant find any. I want good high quality aluminum (or steel) in black, unfinished metal maybe gunmetal. Thanks in advance.

Is it not worth refinishing a factory used cover from the boneyard? You know it’ll fit well.

I refurbished the original diff cover of my 14bolt ff axle and added a drain plug with magnetic bolt.

On my k5 I have the summit racing aluminum ones. Not the prettiest covers but they don't leak, the material is pretty thick and they are black.

Rear: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-730503b

Some interesting videos about diff covers and what's going on in the rear end:

Thanks guys. I found two black aluminum I like and should work. Apparently they chrome the inside mating surface is not always chromed evenly thus causing leakage. Or some of chrome chips off also causing leakage. From what I have learned the chrome ones often leak.
