    Yup, full throttle, and the secondaries open. the top secondary valves open by the air passing them...that way, the secondary metering rods operate on the damds of the air entering the engine. Kinda like a mechanical Mass Airflow System.

    Q jet right? secondaries are mechanical. they did have a Vacuum break for the top secondary butterflies.

    No oil pressure and intermittent spark....I would be looking at the distributor and oil pump shaft area.It is also possible, that the oil pickup tube is cracked, sucking air, and there is a oil pressure switch interrupting the coil power.

    Ya know, one of the big things with that carb over time, was those rear butterflies sticking after everything warmed up.. Another thing, that engine may do better with the 800cfm Q Jet, if you dont go efi.

    The cavities are numbered on the plugs from the side where the wires come in.

    Not really a realay, but solid state circuitry/switch. It happens so fast, the noid light is the only way.

    Yup, gonna have to unplug both plugs from the ecm and start testing for power. A6, B1, and C 16 are the terminals you want to check for 12 volts. B1, and C16 should be constant battery voltage, and a6 will be keyed power. There is also a black or brown plug with 8 terminals coming off the wire...

    And if it still does it after replacing the joints, unbolt and rotate the shaft 180. If it persists, you will need to have it checked and balanced.

    87-92 TBI runs 2 TPI runs the 4 pole AC sine wave unit. 93-95 TBI, LT1 and I think Vortec run that 40 pulse one. It has to do with otions like the radio that changed volume depending on speed, and speed activated door locks, and blahhh blahhh.

    Mounting bolts at the trans should be loose at least while lining up the engine. I think IIRC, the torque rods just went back and bolted to the bell housing...they look useless to me, but then again, I'm not an engineer. Take the motor mounts and brackets from the LM1, and bolt everything...

    The trans mount is the last thing to bolt down. Try the mounts off the other engine if you have not already, they will bolt right up to that L31 block. The GMT400 mounts wont work. Dont worry about the torque rods...some had them, some didnt. My 86k truck doesn't, my buddies 91 kBurb does. Funny...

    Thats how I did the burb, both times. He can also wire the 73 harness to run the 95 alt. The ECM gets a 12 volt signal from the clutch positive(green wire) and commands an extra 200 RPM.

    If you have a q jet, and the top secondary butterflies are open, the secondary metering rods are also full rich....problem.

    thats not hard to do at all...infact, I think the wire colors are even the same. another option, it to keep the 73 wired, and just install the 95 harness as a stand alone.

I know you dont have to worry about smog, but use the Evap cannister and solenoid...the chip is calibrated to use this stuff, and will be no...

    They also have some nice centerbolt holders with aluminum frames, that are like rceways for the wires, the cleanest looking install by far.

    With something as old as the 73, and since he has it all torn apart, the 95 harness can be installed, along with the fuse box from the 95. there really is no guessing by doing it this way. you would use the thru-wall cavities. he only thing you really need to wire in, is the Vehicle speed...
