Seeing fuel and oil around fuel pressure regulator

That’s not good. Sounds like a possible head gasket issue

    700r4 questions

Let’s start from the beginning. Where are you measuring transmission temps from? Is the flow of fluid from transmission to radiator to additional cooler to transmission now? That’s how it should be. Basically your temps don’t seem bad to me. Everyone else was correct you can over-cool the fluid...

    How straight are our axles?

That’s not a machined surface it’s as-forged so I wouldn’t think it matters. .065” seems a little high but I don’t know what’s they’re manufactured too. What are you clamping on in the chuck? What does it measure on the ground surfaces?

    TBI fuel pump unresponsive

Not necessarily. Look on Rock auto some have plastic clamps some have metal. The cheap ass airtex, plastic. The “gm genuine” has metal. Guess it’s whatever they feel like

    Floor Shifter For TH400

I had the b&m truck mega shifter in 2 different gmt400 trucks. One was a 700r4 regular valve body and one was a dodge 3 speed full manual valve body(Cummins swap truck). The truck version was the perfect height in both cases. The first one I had was at least 7 years old and not stiff at all. The...

    454 Oil Pan

They sell oversized drain plugs for fixing stripped plug threads. They cut the thread a little bigger the first time you run it in and you’re good to go. Or they have ones that a bigger plug threads in then there’s a smaller one that comes out the center. Called piggy-back plugs sometimes...

    6.2 L Diesel

What serpentine belt setup are you going with? If it uses the standard Saginaw/“canned ham” style pump then it will work with your booster. Even if it doesn’t have dual returns you can just tee them together. That’s what we did with my buddy’s k10 when we took the 6.2 out and swapped in the 350

    6.2 L Diesel

Honestly 6.2’s aren’t super desirable and yours needing the starter mount work I think it’s probably only worth core value. Might even get more for it parting it out (heads, injection pump, etc). And you may want to rethink going to a vacuum booster. The hydraulic booster is a superior setup of...

79 Silverado - brake issues after lowering

Not sure if you figured this out or not. You said you never disconnected the lines but the picture shows a clearly disconnected line so yes you’ll need to bleed. Other then that double check the entire run of line from the master cylinder to the calipers and see if it’s leaking somewhere...

    Looking for TBI Expert Input

See if your buddy’s scanner can pull live data and check what the reported coolant temp is. My first guess would be your coolant temp sensor is bad showing a really cold value so your computer is dumping fuel to compensate. That’s why it runs a little better when you disconnect one fuel...

    Show your daily driver

Haha it’s funny you mention that because yes it originally had amber turn signals but in 04 when they went to the new front end they changed the tail lights to all red and got rid of the amber and I really liked the looks better so I swapped them out for the newer tail lights. The beds are all...

    Show your daily driver

My new daily: 2001 2500hd 6.0/4L80e Was looking for the 04-07 body style but crew cab pickups are insanely priced right now. This one was within my price range with a bunch of work done recently and only 127,000 miles so I jumped on it. Put around 4000 miles on it since I got it in December and...

Can you use a meyer ST plow without angling cylinders?

Without the rams hooked up its going to angle whichever way it wants there's nothing stopping movement. You could take them up and fab up some tube the same length and just make it permanently straight or angled if you wanted. Its not like the old school plows with pins to hold them in whichever...

    Old77's 1989 S10 tinkering project

I was going to say it doesn't look like your yoke has the little nubs to keep the caps from slinging out via centrifugal motion. The inner c clips should do the same thing.

    Function of TBI o2 sensor.

I’m pretty sure it does effect fueling. You’re correct it’s an antiquated 1 wire system. No heater, so it’s gotta be right there in the manifold to heat up. No ground it uses the exhaust manifold for that. But it’s what they had in 87. As far as I’ve always known it functions just like o2...

What have you done to your square lately??

New passenger side rocker and cab corner installed. Now playing the bondo game of fill, sand, find low spot, repeat. I’m not a body man by any stretch so no laughing...

Started cutting out the rust. I don’t ever want to be a professional body man haha

What have you done to your square lately??

I put my “bumper thingies” on finally! Just need to order the replacement pads from LMC. Next I need to get my real hood on it not this neat up one. I know it doesn’t seem like much but it was a 4-5 hour affair. My frame is a 76 k20 frame and I’m using an 87 body/bumper so I needed to cut the...

    ECM Ground locations

Truck is an 87v10 With a 350 tbi/700R4. Ok so when I put a higher electrical load on my truck it starts to stumble and if I add enough (headlights on high, fan on high, wipers on, and turn the blinker on) I can get it to die. I have a ground from battery to the alternator bracket. Then from...

    86 C20 SM465 to NV4500 swap

2100 at 60mph really isn’t revving that high. That’s probably a pretty decent rpm for the power vs mpg war. If you go any lower you will most likely be lugging it out and that will net you less mpg. The optimal cruising Rpms depends on how the motor was built. But you should consider the price...

    700R4

Probably not. With an automatic the input shaft is spinning the pump, not like a manual where in neutral its not spinning anything. You should be able to spin it with the torque convertor installed on it though. Just cant get enough grip/leverage on it by hand.

Any experience with an E40D transmission? Pump seal behind converter

Incredibly common with the obs fords. The stock seal is cheap and deforms under heat. Had a buddy in high school with a long bed 2wd we all thought it was a burnout machine but every time he loaded up on the converter to try it would just start puking fluid out the front seal haha. They sell a...

    What's this? (x2)

Not a track bar. It comes off the side of the frame right? It looks like the exhaust hanger to me. They're really good at ripping open pants/skin when you're working on your truck without the bed on and walk by the frame. Ask me how I know...

    Fuel gauge issue

I'm pretty sure the later switching valves handled the gauge side as well. The earlier ones only had a single wire to switch the valve but the later (80 or 82 on maybe?) had 5 or 6 wires so the sending unit readings went switched at the valve not at the dash switch. Maybe your dad just took the...
