Almost no lights after engine harness change.

The choke light will stay on with no oil pressure switch. The power to the electric choke runs thru an oil pressure switch so the choke doesn't start to back off until the engine is running (oil pressure). Without a switch in there the light will come on. Sorry, I'm no help on the lights.

    Are Production Numbers Available?

Historically model year changeovers happened in the fall but now they can happen any time during the year. So a truck made in 5/87 would be a 1987 Model year. One made between September and November of a year would depend on when they made the change over.

    Are Production Numbers Available?

Found these GMC production volumes: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjF8N3bzrvRAhXo54MKHQonCtQQFggaMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gtcpoci.info%2FGMC%2520Truck%2520production%2520figures.pdf&usg=AFQjCNHvJLHHAt-kJrxSKOXSy4sLixlYAA I didn't...

    Oil Pressure Gauge Troubleshooting

If I Google'd correctly that part number is a switch not a sensor. So once it reaches the set pressure it goes from off to on. You need a sensor which has a variable output. Looks like you need a D8050.

What have you done to your square lately??

Tom, What vacuum port did you put the Seafoam in? If it is into the throttle body/intake that will go directly into the combustion chambers so that will smoke. Not sure what other vacuum port you might mean.

    Weird and Worrisome Symptoms

Can you disconnect the exhaust ahead of the cat and see how it runs for a quick test?

    Blue engine?

And changed to black around 83 according to a quick interwebs search.

    Weird and Worrisome Symptoms

Did you mean that the cat is making weird sounds? Like clanking or metallic sounds? Could it be plugged or partially plugged? A restricted exhaust will make an engine run poorly. Also a very restricted exhaust can force combustion gas through the rings and out the PCV system. Something...

    Blinkers dont work

Do the brake lights work? Is there a difference between front blinkers and rear blinkers? The rear blinkers and brake lights work on the same wires as I mentioned before. That will help diagnose if it is a wiring problem after the blinker switch.

    Blinkers dont work

The brake light power goes thru the turn signal switch before going back to the tail lights. That is so when you have the brakes applied and the turn signal on it will blink. The turn signal switch is inside the column under the steering wheel. There is a good write up on here from 89...

    Power steering is noisy

I thought my pump was bad because it only squealed at full turn. Turned out it was the belt slightly loose. It doesn't have a stock belt because I removed AIR pump and there was no more adjustment to tighten the belt. Got a new slightly shorter belt that I can fully tighten and it is quiet now.

    Conversion Interiors

From a quick look at the pictures it looks to me like they used factory door panels and covered then with velour. For the driver door you could get a used one or even a new one and cover it and all the rest with the same material to match and fix the fading. Seats could be re-done by a good...

    Temperature Sending gauge question

There is a saying I learned when taking an Electrical Engineering class to help remember the color to number sequence. Black Buicks Run On Yellow Gas But Volkswagens Get Wound. Black =0 Brown = 1 Red = 2 Orange = 3 Yellow = 4 Green = 5 Blue = 6 Violet = 7 Grey = 8 White = 9 Silver = 10%...

    OEM rear speaker size?

I bought the Kicker 4x10 from Crutchfield. Had to use some spacers for the stock mount because the magnets are deeper and hit the back of the cab. Haven't finished installing everything else so I don't know what they sound like yet.

    Questions (smog).

Do you have the RPO code sticker on the inside of the glove box door? That will guide you to the options like axle ratio the truck had from the factory. You'll have to physically check to make sure it hasn't been changed over the years.

    Questions (smog).

The small line next to the fuel filler hose is to vent the air. When you add gas to the tank the air you are displacing has to go out and it goes out thru that line.

    Air Cleaner Flex Intake

LMC has them. 2 different lengths I think. I found one in a junkyard. With it and an under bumper air dam I picked up about 1.5 mpg.

    Squealing noise in the heat??

If it does it while the engine isn't even running and is affected by heat the only things I can think about are something expanding with pressure. Coolant was already mentioned, maybe gas tank releasing pressure because the fuel expanded or turned to vapor.

    Insulation Step 1: Sound Deadener

Silverado/Sierra Classic models had cab to fender isolators to fill in that gap (at least in my year truck), not sure if that completely does a good a job as the foam.

    Been sitting

My truck rarely gets used in the winter, in the last 3 years I've had it, it has sat for 6 months, 4 months and 5 months without getting touched at all over the winter. However, I always put marine stabil in the gas, using the low dose during spring/summer/fall and then the high dose before...

Upgrade: Installing the longer 2WD 3/4 ton 454 radiator

I thought that too but mine appears to have the smaller one also. Todd, what year/combo truck did you get your parts from?

What have you done to your square lately??

I've always used a piece of fuel or vacuum hose on the radiator petcock into some jugs.

    Saddle Leather Interior

My guess is you'd need to paint the rest of the interior parts to match the leather. Or most likely find a shade of interior paint that you like and get the leather to match it. There's probably less choices for the interior paint than choices of leather.
