Hey y'all! Sorry for the delay response. My work schedule these days is pretty danged hectic, and the days are long. Mind you, I'm not complainin', as workin' is better than not, but just wanted to let you folks know why I haven't responded. Well, to update, last weekend, I was just trying...

    Quadrajet Part Question

Quick question for all you Quadrajet Gurus. I pulled the Q-Jet off this morning for a refresh. The truck in question is my recently acquired 1983 K20 with cruise control and A/C. As I was pulling the carb off, a nipple broke off of this part. (Not sure how to post directly, so I'll have it...

Thanks for all your suggestions, I really appreciate it. I was under a time crunch yesterday (I'm over 9 hours from home), and made a decision that I hope won't come back to bite me in the a$$. I went with a local tire dealer that had a set of 285/75 R16s in stock. They were of the...

As I drove from Houston to Kansas last night, I got to thinking. Could I put a tire on a stock '83 K20 that was a bit wider AND a bit taller? I was thinking I'd go with the 265, but is there another option that would fill up the wheel well a bit more, without rubbing? Thanks again

Howdy folks! I'm finally on my way to go pick up Ol' Blue. I had a plan a back in May of going up, but COVID put a kabash on that, but I'm finally getting up there to get her road ready again. With that being said, I'm going to be changing out the tires (the existing are showing signs of...

    Goodyear Wrangler Radials

Not to hi-jack this thread or anything, but how does the cost delta play out when you go to mount them? Road hazard, stems, lifetime rotation/balance, that sort of thing? Thanks for the tip!

New 1988 R30 Classic Custom owner, need help

Just my .02, but I doubt the exhaust is the culprit. Lack of cat, not to mention glass packs, 'should' give no problem with excessive exhaust pressure. Air, fuel and spark are my go to's. How did the old plugs look? Have you checked timing? Maybe a sticky float? What type of carb are we...

Cracked manifold - looking @ headers and exhaust on a budget. Suggestions?

I'm with ya bud. Everything I've seen on the youtube (Modern Muscle, Summit Racing, Motor Trend, etc...) indicates that shortys are good for low-mid rpm, and longs are good for mid to high rpm, due to back pressure characteristics. I guess it would all depend on if you want your power at the...

    K5 Removable Top

So, I'll be starting a 1983 K20 renovation soon, and have been planning it for a while. My two boys (30 & 25) will be joining me in this endeavor, and as such, I've included them in some of my decision making. Heads, intake, carb, camshaft, etc... Well, my oldest has caught the bug! He's...

    Knock upon starting, new engine

I've been doing some research in re-doing the top end of my father in laws K20 350. In the process, I came across this video: It's a pretty decent video on a 350 sbc he's building. Anyway, this engine builder had a set of lifters go bad during a camshaft break in. The whole video is good...

    1983 K20 350 SBC Upgrade Opinions

Thanks for all the replies! Definitely a lot to consider, and by my own admission, I will absolutely research something to death before I pull the trigger. That trait DEFINITELY gets on my wife's nerves sometimes. ;) So here's the plan. Originally, I was going to drive up to KS and pick her...

Firstly, beautiful Silverado! Secondly, can I assume you have the Rochester Quadrajet? I can't speak from personal experience, as I'm embarking next week to pick up my first square body. A completely stock 1983 K20 with a quadrajet installed. During the process researching how to put a...
