What new tools have you got lately?

Worked on a job years ago where they had to run a new large water service for the fire suppression system on the building. The water line pressure were a bit low so they in a million dollar pump system for the building system During testing when the initiated the pump it pulled a spud wrench...

    04 LM7 into 87 K5

The VSS in the trans (before the Tcase) will read the same speed regardless of the T-case being in high or low. The ECM(PCM) uses VSS for shift tables. I don't think you can use a switch to adjust that.

    New Process A833 4speed w/ OD MY6 MM7

Only thing I've seen mentioned is the bushing for the input (or output) shaft wear out and the case being aluminum they get wore badly there. Depending on how other projects go I will hopefully pull this trans before it dies for the NV3500 swap, likely Fall 2025. When that happens I'll post it...

What have you done to your square lately??

I'm getting close to my project being back on the road. Tag acquired. I have 90% of the interior back in it and the exterior is complete. hopefully this weekend I can take it to town and get a tank full of gas and start using it some. Plan is to drive it to my uncle's house for our family...

What radiator are you using for the 5.3

I am running the stock heavy duty radiator that came with my Vortec/LS. You can cut out the lower radiator support out of the donor vehicle, with a little trimming to that it will bolt right over the C-10 radiator support in the stock location (use 3/4" spacers to lift it up a little) Then the...

    New Process A833 4speed w/ OD MY6 MM7

Thanks, mine is the round tube. It's the lesser desirable aluminum case version of the trans, I'll replace it with a NV3500 i have on standby when it wears out, so likely won't need to replace the shifter Thank you for the confirmation!!

    New Process A833 4speed w/ OD MY6 MM7

So is it correct that to remove the shift arm on this trans there are two retaining springs (one on each side, I assume passenger side and driver side) that need to be depressed and the shift arm will come right out? I am replacing the vinyl floor covering in my truck and it would be a bit...

    Rear Sag on One Side

Its a single tank on the driver side. We threw a level at it parked on a level floor and its a bit over an inch without the driver. the front has a bit, maybe 1/4 inch.

    Rear Sag on One Side

So my truck sat in a fence row for 20 years before I got it. Its an 81. The rear of the truck on the driver side has about an inch of sag to it. The front is pretty flat. I was thinking weak leaf spring initially, but figured I'd ask if anyone thought it might be the shackle bushings? If I...

What have you done to your square lately??

I got the last of the headlight pigtails replaced and all the headlights and bezels back in place. Mounted the tucked rear bumper brackets, I need to get the rear bumper cleaned up and installed.

What have you done to your square lately??

Slowly getting this thing back together. Still one headlight shy of wrapping up the front end. Started with the bumper brackets for a chrome sport bumper. I got a new to me (never installed) aftermarket radio installed.

What have you done to your square lately??

Got the rear glass installed and the drivers door handle and sport mirror installed. I’ve been chipping away at getting all the trim and everything back installed. Got the windshield in the other day. I went with a new one with the antenna in the glass.

What have you done to your square lately??

I am officially saying I am done painting (other than a few tiny touchups in seams where I couldn’t get paint to flow). This picture was Sunday after I shut down for the afternoon. I went back out this morning and taped it up again and scuffed up the green and then reshot the green. There were...

What have you done to your square lately??

Was able to get the fenders bolts down and aligned, hood on with new hinges and springs and the cowl vent plastic replaced and the cowl bolted back on. The bed is sitting in place but isn’t bolted down yet.

What have you done to your square lately??

I had a few hours to spare this afternoon so I got the cab prepped and taped off. 2 solid coats later and the cab is covert tan.

What have you done to your square lately??

Thank you guys. I'm hoping the "covert tan" comes out like the pictures I've researched of it, I wanted a cream color. It looks a bit darker in the can than what i expected but the green looked dark in the can too so....

What have you done to your square lately??

After doing some items on the honey do list I was able to get the truck painted.... well the base color painted. I still need to do the other color for the rockers and the cab roof. This is GM Medium Sage Green from 2003 Avalanches and other vehicles. The roof and rockers are going with GM...

What have you done to your square lately??

truck is in primer!! hopefully this weekend I can get the interior and jambs painted. I'm going back with the original two tone pint scheme so that's going to be painful with all the masking and tapeing that I'm setting myself up for.

What have you done to your square lately??

I'm down to the cab on body work. Pulled most of the interior and looks pretty good. Must have been a bad day when this truck ran across the seam seal people... its everywhere its not supposed to go and not in the seams. Cleaning that up and cleaned up some pitting around the door jamb area...

What have you done to your square lately??

Patched the rust on the drivers fender and got it ready for primer and the dings worked out of it. I disassembled the passenger door and got it mostly ready for primer. I need to do a bit of sanding on the inside lower area first, if I get really ambitious I might clean up a few dings there...

    Filling small holes without welding

Agreed on the welding for the small holes. If its rusty then it might blow out to a bigger area and have to stack in a bit more weld to cover. Be patient between tacks and let it cool, the hotter it is the more it will warp/burnout larger holes. Other "hack" option is to peen in the hole a...

    diesel to LS wiring harness?

I would get a "gas" replacement complete wiring harness for the truck and a standalone harness for the LS. the only rework on the harness you will need to do are a few gauge wires and rerouting the coil and starter wires from the truck harness to the LS fuse block.
