Removing large snap ring manual hubs, I lost my touch

Have you tried expanding the ring slightly and tapping it sideways in the groove a little bit? If it moves, at least you know it isn’t stuck in place.

'89 GMC 'Burb grill swap questions

GM has license to use the Trail Boss name, but I couldn't find reference to any vehicles produced with that option until 2016, starting with the Colorado pickup. I found a few Trail Boss Suburbans online and they all had similar pedigrees, namely, late 80's 1/2 tons located in the Pacific...

    Why automotive grounds are important.

What hurts my brain is thinking about that statement coupled with the fact that my '59 MGA has a 12v positive ground system. Hooking up a battery with the positive lead going straight to the frame always makes me turn my head a little and expecting lots of sparks and noise.

    Advice on my 57 chevy

Looks like the rear wheel-wells have been cut? That's going to take a bite out of the value. Anything can be fixed, but it's something that will come up during the sale. On the plus side, the hardtops are generally considered to be more valuable than sedans (posts) so that's something in your...

What new tools have you got lately?

Sort of a tool here, truck-related at least. I ordered some new tie-down straps for general use after breaking some of the old ones. My yellow HF straps have started failing by having the release lever snap off which renders them useless. Decided to get something better than I've had in the past...

How many times can wires flex?

Something I recently used while building a Li-ion battery pack is silicone covered wire. It’s a game changer when it comes to applications where a wire needs to flex and move, that’s why it’s used in robots that do repetitive manufacturing work. Once you work with silicone wire you’ll never use...

Time to bump this thread as I see Santa has brought our little Cobby a fancy red hat for Christmas! Congrats on the promotion, you deserve it and henceforth shall be referred to as Sir Cob.:worship::worship::worship: :big_banana_Dance:

    Clunking and banging on acceleration

You'll need to check the motor mounts beyond obvious signs of breakage. I had a situation where the rubber inside the clamshells degraded and allowed the motor to torque-over far enough for the driveline to make contact with the crossmember.

    Are pneumatic tools obselete?

I’m in no rush when working under the hood so it’s hand tools only. I do use air when I rotate tires and wouldn’t switch to batteries just because I like the sound the gun makes when the lug nuts break loose. Makes me feel like I’m on a nascar pit crew.

    Feels like going home

Great looking truck! Something to check on the cruise control issue is the cc servo. It’s the round diaphragm connected to the throttle linkage. Mine had a small crack in the dried-out rubber and that was keeping it from working.

    Front Air intake cowl question

It isn't attached to anything at the lower drain section, just the two screws at the top hold it on. If it's rattling, it's probably making slight contact on the side towards the radiator where the air intake flanges butt up to the core support. Some stick-on insulating foam in that area might...

    Crewcab with an I6. Hmmmm

"The truck is all complete with every body panel on the exterior and the interior has seats..." LOL, for $8900 I would hope it has seats. She's a project for sure, I've seen ex-military vehicles in better shape.

Storing Power and Air tools? How do you do it?

I don't have much in the way of air tools. I keep them on a hunk of scrap aluminum rail that has some female chucks installed. I guess I could always make it longer if I acquire more tools. (The silver box is a digital air gauge.) My corded tools are kind of a mess. They sit on this shelf in...

    Mobile Appraisal

That makes sense, the province of Quebec lists a tax rate of 14.975% on vehicle registrations, so they must have to establish some sort of value. There is also a requirement for a safety inspection number or certificate number (the exact wording varies by province). There's no info online on how...

    76 c10 Ca Smog?....carb/intake?

How have you been getting it registered before this? If it was an out-of-state vehicle, there's a different set of standards for equipment and emissions. I saw in another post you were thinking about selling it to get a van. If that's the case, I would just advertise it "as is" and let any...

What new tools have you got lately?

Picked up another creeper to go along with my Lisle that I've had for forty years. It says Crew Line 44" on it, made in China of course. I like the larger six wheels and tilt-up headrest which the Lisle doesn't have. Wasn't looking for another creeper but I literally found it laying alongside...
