Exhaust single to dual on a tight budget - Then we get into some after issues

Yea right even that would probably be enough on the fuel lines at least for right now.

Exhaust single to dual on a tight budget - Then we get into some after issues

I didn't even talk about it in my other post. I'm missing my tank switch cover, well the truck was a factory single tank truck so actually never had one. I'm less concerned about the tank switch valve, proximity to the exhaust than I am the dump bed pump, mainly because the DB pump will likely...

Exhaust single to dual on a tight budget - Then we get into some after issues

Ok so I'm just going to pull something in from another thread. When I did the transmission last year I was going to do the exhaust at the same time, because I knew it was getting to be time and it would be down anyway, but it didn't pan out in terms of time or money. So one of the concerns at...

Exhaust single to dual on a tight budget - Then we get into some after issues

I use to get down to Portland pretty frequently but not anymore.... To quiet for you might be just right for me! We shall see, thanks for that info.

Exhaust single to dual on a tight budget - Then we get into some after issues

Ok, so I think at this point I'm going to go ahead and try the turbos and see how I feel about them. The mufflers are here, but the pipe kit won't be here until Monday, so hopefully I'll be able to get going on this Monday later in the day or Tuesday. And I will let you all know how the...

Exhaust single to dual on a tight budget - Then we get into some after issues

Not really any wrecking yards left in the area and the few that are charge so much it's ridiculous. I keep telling myself on one of my feed runs that I'll make a wrecking yard list. The last one where I went over to Richland would have been ideal, but at that point I'd almost have to stay...

Exhaust single to dual on a tight budget - Then we get into some after issues

The crush bends are fine for the 305 and if I get 350 under the hood eventually it won't be wild so I'm not concerned with that, but is a worthy point for any future readers. I don't mind if there is some exhaust noise when stepping into the gas, but normal driving I don't want it to be a...

Exhaust single to dual on a tight budget - Then we get into some after issues

Thanks that's just what I wanted to hear, at least at this point I feel like it is worth while to try the turbos.

Exhaust single to dual on a tight budget - Then we get into some after issues

@CalSgt Thanks. Keep in mind with the pricing I'm getting is wholesale, so those $20 turbos I'm getting are $39 retail, still cheap by todays standards. If I can talk over the turbos and listen to the radio without the exhaust interfering I'll be happy. I've heard some Flowmasters that I've...

Exhaust single to dual on a tight budget - Then we get into some after issues

So I'm about to replace my exhaust systems. I like what I have quite a bit, but it's falling apart. Unfortunately I'm on a tight budget as I need to do rear brakes on the truck and bunch of front end work on the wife's minivan. So I need to replace it as cheaply as possible. So what I...

    Engine Carbon Cleaning

ACDelco X66-A follow the instructions on the can. Then run it until it quits smoking and do the water treatment like @Matt69olds describes. That's my method and it's pretty darn good.

gas gauge goes back an forth when im moving.

It's the long narrow unbaffled tanks. There is a resistor on the back of the IP cluster which reduces the movement but does not cure it. Even a properly working gauge in our truck will have some movement.

    Sea Foam

I've used it yes, but it's not my favorite product. If your looking for a product to apply directly to the carburetor I like ACDelco X-66A The ultimate in direct decarbonization is X-66A followed by 8oz of water slowly drizzled into the carburetor at 1,500RPM. If your looking for a pour into...

I'm going to tag you in the farming thread and answer your question there if that's alright.

Need advice on Tuning a Quad

I think you'd be better off looking up a video on youtube, like SBC pinging, so you can hear it vs one of us attempting to describe it. I remember the thread on the trailer. I'm heading out on Saturday in my 84' C20 for a nearly 400 mile journey with the trailer. And I will return with 2...

Need advice on Tuning a Quad

What @fast 99 is saying goes right along with what I was saying. @75gmck25 I didn't say 4 degrees was enough per-say, it might be or might not be but I'm under the impression the OP is building his knowledge base with these truck and I don't want him to think well Bruce is running 15 degree...

Need advice on Tuning a Quad

Timing: You might get guys here that will tell you to advance it but don't. If the sticker calls for 4 run that. The distributor is calibrated for that base timing, also emissions plays a roll. 85' was a later emission year so little base timing was common. This was primarily done to...

Need advice on Tuning a Quad

You have gotten great advise so far, and I'm not saying that you shouldn't enriched it some in the areas indicated, but! If you didn't have an AFR gauge you'd have no idea this was going on and you'd be a happy camper with what you have because it's running good. Most of us guys setting up or...

    350 TBI in California

I don't think anyone can answer your question definitively. It's probably going to depend on who does your visual inspection. But the emissions laws state factory, so you know they are going to be looking for a EGR valve and smog pump. I doubt that most of the guys looking under your hood are...

    Defroster not working

From what I can tell it looks like all the vacuum stuff is hooked up. Does this truck have A/C I assume it does based on the pics but checking anyway. If so will the heater switch from floor to vent? See if it's getting vacuum down to the box. Not sure I can be of much more help, but...

    TH350 To a 700r4 transmission

I've got the 305 / 700R4 and stock 3.41 gears in my truck. I'd love to have those 4.10's! With 3.41's it's loafing on the freeway at 60+ and when I tow it'll tow and haul what I ask it to, but it would be better with 4.10's or even 4.56's. I'm really hoping to get that done this winter. This...

    86 K10 smoking under dash.

So about 10 years ago I bought a 1977 Cadillac. On my way home from Portland (about a 200 mile drive) smoke started pouring out of the steering column. It actually did this twice on the drive early on and it was so bad it would burn my eyes and nose. After I got it home I drove it around...

    86 K10 smoking under dash.

Dash lights are powered by the tail light circuit. Less smoke will come from under the dash if keep your lit cigarette out from under it.... :)

5.7nhigh millage what oil do you use?

I don't disagree with what you are saying, running it in a neglected engine to clean it out. But I do not think a person is doing any good substituting a 1/2 quart or more of oil at every change. All a person is doing is thinning out the additives designed to be there.

5.7nhigh millage what oil do you use?

A good "heavy duty" or diesel 15W40 is great in a high mile motor with flat tappets since it is a little higher in zinc, and is what I like to run.
