There still things you are not considering about the 2 wheel drive suspension. Unless you change out the the upper spring mount location, (Beam structure) there is less spring full movement. Yes I did my '82 twice, first just cut coils and spaced out upper A arms.

Then changed upper and lower A arms with Chisholm suspension parts. The next limit is the inner fenders, need tubs up front to have the same travel distance. Use little tires up front, no not on mine. Drop spindles also means narrow wheels or more off set.

Finally your quote "No recent experience with drop springs for these trucks..." I'll state it again, the ride will not be the same, not bad, just different.
Ok ya. With just drop spindles though the steering geometry doesn’t change nor does the spring rate.
And the slight difference in track width either way depending on who’s spindles you use, still allows for most all reasonable tire and wheel combos.

I know most are just different taste/opinions, but there's a few that it's definitely hate and it's sad. There's plenty of things that aren't my style (donks and traditional lowriders for example) but I still like them and appreciate the work if it's done well. I'll rag on someone for doing poor/sketchy/unsafe/just plain dumb work but just a style difference, nah.
I totally agree with you. The haters are out there and will not go away. I decided to ignore them long time ago cause hate has never done any good.

After reading all these posts I think I will just leave it stock for now.
The wheels on it are 17 inch rally replicas which ride better over potholes and give me a better tire choice here in OZ but nobody ever picks them up as not being stock.
It currently has 340hp which is enough for its current ride height so will maybe drop it 3/4 if I go with more power later on.
Regardless no body modifications are going to happen while I own it.

Here is a pic with the 15 inch Cragers it arrives with when I bought it. Still the best look in my opinion but just rides so much nicer on alloy 17s.
