    Engine too cold for sniper??

Just finished Holley sniper install. Started first click of the key. Whew!! Now, I can’t get the darn thing to run warm enough for the efi to do the self learn thing. I thought it had a 160 thermostat in there, as the engine would not go above 160, according to the sniper display. So i...

I’ve been a gear head since I can remember, and have owned a few muscle and 30s era cars over the years. Sold my last one, a 37 Dodge D5 coupe a couple years ago and decided that was it. Last year I got the bug again and thought “what could I get that the novelty won’t wear off of”? Well I...

    Fuel sending unit help

I ended up getting a new sending unit that I could drill a 9/16” hole for the sniper return line. I only have the single tank, and I deleted all the stock fuel system except the tank, which is new. Thanks Codfish

    Holley sniper install questions

Temp sensor now in the head. I did put the stock sensor in the thermostat housing though for the stock gauge. Not too worried about the looks. It’s soon to be my daily driver. The battery is a year old. AC Delco 665 CCA. Truck has been sitting for a week or so without being started, but with...

    Holley sniper install questions

Finally got through to the tech line at Holley He said any voltage drop below 10 is not advisable. He said it may work, but could lead to further issues. Said that a voltage drop of 3-4 volts while cranking indicates that that power source(the spare ones in the fuse block) may still be...

    Holley sniper install questions

Thanks I’m waiting for the Holley tech line to open. I’ll ask them as well. I’ll report back with what they say. Codfish

    Holley sniper install questions

Just getting into the wiring finally for the sniper. Pink wire question. I know it needs power while in run and while cranking. That’s understood. I have a couple empty terminals in the fuse block that are hot in run and while cranking. Only thing is, the volts drop from 12 to about 8.5...

    Fuel sending unit help

Installing a Holley sniper on my 84 k10. Single drivers side tank. Dropped the tank to modify the sending unit for the return line, and found this. The 1/4 line was pretty much plugged, so I cleaned it out. The 3/8 supply line is fine. The middle line, the 5/16 line. Where does it return...

    Help with block id

Well I “think” the casting number reads 14016379, late 70’s 350 with 2or 4 bolt mains. Just wanted to know exactly what it is. May have to change the rear seal so hoping it was a 2 piece variety to avoid pulling the engine. Thanks Auroragirl for your time. Off to the chiropractor now ...

    Help with block id

Trying to find the year of my small block. Just for parts ordering and what not. No other reason. I looked at the “lime book” referenced here but no luck. I ONLY have the numbers from the front pad behind the alternator. Previous owner said this was a replacement crate, but who knows. Only...

    Small block starter question

So my starter quit today. Acted up every now and then, finally crapped out today. Called parts stores and found one starter in town for an 84 k10 with a 350. Perfect. Went to pick it up, and the one they had was twice the size of the one on my truck. Luckily I brought the old one with me...

    1987 V20 headlights

Where I live I had trouble finding replacement headlights for my 84, with quad lamps. When I did they were $20 a pop. I’m cheap. I held off buying them. While in Walmart one day I wandered down to the auto isle and found my headlights, both upper and lower, on clearance for $3 EACH!!! Score

The 383 is finally going in!

All good advice Remove the distributor Pre hang the headers An engine leveler helps in many cases, but looks like you should be able to man handle it if necessary seeing as how you have the rad support out. I like to use old thick blankets to cover stuff I don't want to scratch up. Even lay...

DUMB first post question!! Be gentle

Just picked up an 84 K10. Noticed the lid on the air cleaner is off center. Hmmmm. Quadrajet The stud for the air cleaner doesn’t appear to be threaded into the right hole. It’s threaded into the hole as seen in the attached pic. The hole which is centered on the carb doesn’t appear to...
