What did you pay for a square

I never found the correct GMC emblem for my grill, I had to re-use the original letters when I replaced my '87's grill. Mine are individual and I did not get them perfectly level but to the casual observer they are close enough. I can tell you that I searched the far corners of the internet...

What have you done to your square lately??

I had to use the '87 as my Daily Driver last week because The Duramax was in the shop. The weather was typical winter rain/mist/fog nasty. I try not to drive the '87 unless the weather is nice but I didn't have a lot of choice. Today the temps were in the mid 50s and the sun was out so my son...

What have you done to your square lately??

I put a few pieces of firewood in it and then I messed up Pop's yard. I suppose I need to go wash the mud off of it and out from under it but it so seldom looks like an actual working 4wd that I have left the mud on it for now.

    Wheel/Tire Opinion

The 60 series is going to be a lot shorter overall and will be a lower profile. I am going to stay with my original opinion and say 255/70. But it is YOUR truck. If you prefer a smaller diameter/lower profile the 60 series would be a decent choice.

    Leaf springs for 87 V1500

Are you planning to stay at original stock height or were you wanting to lift it a little bit?

    BC’s boat/dumpster fire thread

First of all, take your time. No rush. Second, with a white lower unit and mid-section I am thinking Johnson. So yes. You probably have a small Johnson.

Warn 4x4 hubs on top of hub caps?

I kind of think no matter what you are going to still have a Super Cool look. And a 4wd 3/4 ton is just so d***ed useful.

Maybe I missed it, approximately where is this Suburban located? You are taking it back to Lakeland, FL obviously. Your route may bring you close to some of the members of this forum.

Warn 4x4 hubs on top of hub caps?

You have to set up the height and stance to make YOU happy. We all have our own opinions on these things. @Grit dog has one of the coolest trucks on this forum and I love every pic he posts but his truck is a bit too high for what I wanted/needed. I think your truck looks great in those pics...

Can we get a pic or two of the motor? It looks like this one may be from THIS century...

Warn 4x4 hubs on top of hub caps?

That doesn't sound right at all. The Warn hubs should be the same diameter as the OE hubs. If your hub caps are factory original, they should have a little room. They should not fit perfectly flush around the hub like your pic shows. Are those aftermarket hub caps? You cannot have a...

Should i fix the TBI or go to carb? And what's this wire?

We know you are trying to help. I know I appreciate the useful information and I am not even doing the job. I personally get frustrated often when I find myself repeating over and over what someone NEEDS to do in a troubleshooting thread and the entire time they are ignoring my advice...

Should i fix the TBI or go to carb? And what's this wire?

When you have a whole bunch of folks giving a whole bunch of advice and it doesn't all match it's pretty difficult to follow all of that advice. Everyone here has the very best of intentions, everyone wants Ayden to Do What They Recommend. We all like him, we all want to help him. Maybe try...

    Fool me once…..

One problem with posting on a forum is that the person reading what you type cannot see your facial expression and cannot hear your tone of voice. Something typed can carry a meaning completely different from what the poster meant to say. For my part I did not want "the juicy details", I was...

    Fool me once…..

You posted this on the internet. You gave one side of the story and only part of it. If you didn't want to share it, why did you post it at all? Honestly, it was never my intention to cause any irritation. You said you wanted to help the guy out. Sorry you are so irritated, sorry this evil...

    Fool me once…..

I dunno...maybe this line right here from your opening post? "It looks so bad I honestly feel sorry for the guy. I wanted to tell him not to throw away those calculus and material design books just yet." You posted pics and complained but you didn't share any positive interactions with the...

    Fool me once…..

If you don't tell the man he messed up, he won't know he messed up. If you cared enough to send him your business to "help him get started" why not care enough to give him some positive feedback to help him get better? Done respectfully, a teachable moment can make a LOT of difference.

Should i fix the TBI or go to carb? And what's this wire?

I would suspect that it may take a little longer to start. The starter would have to spin the engine long enough to build enough oil pressure to make the switch contacts close. I honestly don't know what that pressure is. When I turn the key to "On" I can hear the fuel pump run, I let it...

Should i fix the TBI or go to carb? And what's this wire?

The original TBI does use an oil pressure switch as part of the electric fuel pump circuit but it is only a backup. It is there to allow the engine to get fuel even if the primary circuit fails.

    Holy Grail of Squarebodys

I cannot get rid of the tool box. I never had one before but I use that one far too much. And I have too many folks with classic vehicles that expect me to have that toolbox at events. I sure would like to have a set of the original like you show in that pic, possible cut down in length to...

1987 Suburban Silverado Sun visor 4WD instructions decal available??

I sort of doubt it...FYI that sticker is not unique to the Suburban. I have the same sticker on the sun visor of my '87 V1500.

    Holy Grail of Squarebodys

That sounds like a Dumb Idea. Who would do such a thing? Honestly, mine was done like this when I bought it. I have to Do Something about my rails, they look awful but I feel like the truck needs them to stay. Any thoughts @FireTruck1984 ?

    Wheel/Tire Opinion

If you are going to keep your original wheels (and I encourage you to do that! They look great!) the 255/70R15 that @bucket recommended might be exactly what you need. I will "argue" with bucket that the 255/70 is slightly taller than the 235/75...but we are talking a total of 4.5mm. That is...

    Wheel/Tire Opinion

What exactly are you asking here? Are you looking for new wheels? Or just looking to get a wider tire? A tire that is wider but not taller? I think you are asking for a wider tire that is close to the same height. If that is your question, it may help you to know what those numbers actually...
