    Odd hesitation

if you have a cat then it is clogged. classic symptom of a clogged cat, idles good but won't get out of it's own way at around 20-30 mph.

    Help with fuel gauge wiring

why in the hell would GM take a wire from the fuse panel, out to the engine bay then back in to a switch then come back out to the engine bay to go back in to the gauge cluster.... they were high or something.

apparently they wired them 3 different ways.. here is two more ways..

    Help with fuel gauge wiring

Well I may be mistaken on that it doesn't come back out. Every diagram I see for the old setup says it comes out. I would follow the pink wire from the back of the control switch, see where it goes. It should lead you to the fuel gauge or it's been cut. The trucks are known to be hacked up, no...

    Help with fuel gauge wiring

You are reading the diagram wrong. That says "front of dash"...not firewall. The fuel gauge wire never comes out from under the dash. It goes from the control switch up to the back of the gauge cluster. The early models that had dual tanks did the electrical switching for fuel reading at the...

    16 or 20 gal Tank?

If you look straight past the filler neck through the fill door and you can see the end off the tank it's 20 gallon, if you can't and have to look toward front of truck, it's 16 gallon. If you have no fuel door on passenger side then you never had duals. When filling up, don't shove the nozzle...

    OD Green

I bought it like this. A matte clear coat would do wonders to protect it.

    OD Green

I have OD Green. It is flat paint, everything "stains" it. Greasy fingers, bird shit, spit. But taking a rag soaked with WD40 makes it a consistent sheen.

Some type of solenoid on the firewall??

yes that is the air pump. It essentially just injects NOX into the intake which cannot burn and therefore lowers the amount of emissions put out by the engine. You can yank all of that, it will take work and you would need to plug up the holes left by it.

Some type of solenoid on the firewall??

This is good. Check and make sure they are no wires coming out the back of distributor, 5 wires to be exact. That is HEI ESC distributor. If not then we can eliminate the tip in switch, decel valve, EFE valve and diverter valve. That's half of that crap on that sticker.

Some type of solenoid on the firewall??

Oh hell. Like a maze drawn by a blind man..thanks a lot GM.

Some type of solenoid on the firewall??

Get me a pic of the emissions sticker, then we can reference what it all is

Snap a pic of that emissions sticker too

Some type of solenoid on the firewall??

Ok there are two ways to go about this. 1. Are you required to have emissions? If so do step A. If not, do step B. A. There should be a sticker on the radiator support. That is the emissions sticker. It shows how everything should be hooked up. Follow that to put it back to stock. This is the...

Some type of solenoid on the firewall??

as much as I know about these trucks.. I don't know diddly poo about Q-jets with their mixture controls and all that. Edelbrock & Holley are my forte although I am looking at trying to learn about Qjets and maybe rebuild one and put on my truck just for gits & shiggles.

Some type of solenoid on the firewall??

Ok. If that tip in switch is still wired to the computer and you're still running an ESC distributor, then it needs a vacuum hose from the carb too.

How do I tell if my truck has AC?

Wow, GMC thanks it's buyers was dumb....

How do I tell if my truck has AC?

my horn button is the one in the pic above..and I have the clock too, still works.

Some type of solenoid on the firewall??

That is completely wrong. Normally that side is the tip in vacuum switch for timing. It is totally unrelated to EGR. Here's what should happen. 1. Unhook that vacuum line at the switch on the firewall. It should be running to the carb, and the port should only supply vacuum when the throttle is...

    cruise disconnect switch hose routing?

the single pin goes to the back of the speedo, right beside the cable connection. it actually gets screwed into it by a small bolt.

    cruise disconnect switch hose routing?

I assume you are talking about the vacuum release hose for the cruise brake pedal switch. The hose runs from the servo, up over the brake booster and in through the firewall at the hole above the speedo cable. it then runs up over the steering wheel under the dash and down the back of the dash...

    Heat thru vents

Apparently I was seeing the "diverter valve" behind 189. it works fine. my problem is the "temp valve"... from the service manual: C60 A/C SYSTEM Both the heating and cooling functions are performed by this system. Air entering the vehicle must pass through the cooling unit (evaporator) and...

    Heat thru vents

whatever flap/what I called a blend door... is behind 189, that's what I can see and am talking about. One way lets me see a "finned radiator" which I assume is the heater core, the other way I cant see anything. Is the rod from the mode or temp selector? Is the cable the mode or temp selector...

    Heat thru vents

Ok. I did this already on Monday. I took off part 189. I could see the blend door and it moves freely. When vent is selected, and temp is on hot, it blows out the hole left by part 189. So that would mean it should continue to the vents. When I switch to cold, the door moves and shuts off the...
