The Joy & Sorrow of Steering

I have not posted on here in a long time, just semi'lurked. I finally had to do a repair on my 83 K10. The entire steering linkage had become so loose that I was steering 180 degrees and still going straight. It scared me even more when I was loaded down on the 8 ft bed with black locust. My...

    torque converter lockup not working

incorrect. I did have cruise and it didn't work. I then ripped it all out but you have to leave the cruise control brake switch. It has the vacuum port which you wont need if you take it out but also has two electrical leads. One for cruise and one for lockup. The contacts for the "closed"...

    torque converter lockup not working

Do you have cruise? The 700r4 lockup is hooked to the cruise vacuum switch located on the brake pedal. The black one is for brake and the white is cruise/lockup. Mine wouldn't fully close so no lockup. Take it off and take it apart, clean it up and bend the taps slightly. Mine has worked fine...

    Occasional dieseling problems

It can be ignition related..or fuel..or air. I would check timing, set around 8 initial and 32-36 deg all in by 3500 rpm. Check spark. Change the plugs and wires. If you have blow by, that can cause dieseling too. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Help with 85 wire harness on engine swap?

The 4 prong is the ESC distributor plug. Throw it away, along with the knock sensor. I cant put my finger on that red connector. It is related to the entire harness in the pic. The white 700r4 is connected to the vacuum switch located at the 10 o clock area of the brake booster. The egr bleed...

Not sure where oil is leaking

That seems low to me. My engine oil pressure at idle is near 40. 60 at cruise. Those are both when fully warm @ 195 deg. But i also know the old 10 psi for every 1k rpm

Not sure where oil is leaking

Also, make sure that you put a little bit of RTV around the coolant passages. Just smear it on there real thin.

Not sure where oil is leaking

Mine did this. Its the intake manifold. Take it off and put new gaskets on the sides and then use RTV on the front and rear walls do not use the rubber seals

    Fuel Guage Pegged

when the gauge is pegged at the 3 o clock position, it means there is a grounding issue. there is a wire that goes from the sending unit to the frame. you need to see if it came off of the top of the tank since it just presses on there or if it is not connected to the frame. it will be a black...

700R-4 Torque Converter or TCC Solenoid Issue?

do you have cruise? is it 4x4? does it have EGR bleed solenoid? give us the transmisssion RPO code and we can go from there. or you can just go under the hood next to the firewall and unplug the vacuum source to it. if the shudder goes away then it's the lockup.

    82 K10 Gas Tank Replacement

I redid my dual setup a few years ago. I actually found that autozone was cheaper than RockAuto..then. I bought Spectre tank and sending unit. You should buy 87 tanks if you have TBI. I wanted to get new hoses but it was too confusing to figure out which ones I needed. I somehow have factory...
