'88 K5 RH Hinge Cover Cable Routing Question

I purchased an '88 K5 with a broken release cable. I removed it to clean the seats and, of course, I didn't take any pictures. It took so long to find a replacement that now I can't remember (or figure out) how to route the cable. Can anyone take a picture of theirs for me or direct me to an...

    Rear view mirror re-stick

When I worked at a body shop the only thing we used was super glue. I never saw anyone come back because the mirror didn't stay on. Use glass cleaner then alcohol to clean windshield.

    Welder Question

Nope! Hobart is made by Miller. Produced on the same line only slight change in that some parts are cheaper quality, i.e. a plastic vs. metal piece, nothing really major. Older Hobart welders not included. I always said if you use a Miller you'll be spoiled for life but after buying a newer...

    Parting out 1990 GMC Suburban

Why do you have it in the back of my son's truck and why did you put that sticker there? Oh wait, just checked...my son's truck is still outside. Seriously, my son's '67 is that exact same color! Small window too! Just had to say something when I saw that! :Big Laugh: Now for the serious...

Aluminum Wheels for 8 Lug Hubs

I have to disagree too. I have a set of 16.5 x 9.75 slots that rocked on my '77 I used to have. My son got them out of the shed and cleaned one up and I still like them. Just don't have anything to put them on right now.

    Broken Cruise/Wiper Lever Problem

My '88 K5 Silverado has the cruise/wiper arm broken off in the harness. The piece in there is the part just past the groove that snaps it into place. Needle nose pliers won't fit and efforts to get it out with my Snap-on pick set has been unproductive. If anyone has ever figured out a way to get...

    Driver side door adjustment

There is at least one video on You Tube that show where the inside bolts are located. Sure fooled me when I watched one! There is a plastic plug over it if someone hasn't done it before without replacing it.

    Organizational Tips

Ain't that the truth! Lots of good tips here. I use the baggies but fall short on pictures. A habit (taking pictures) I'm going to have to get into. My son does it ALL the time and yet I keep forgetting I have a cell phone for that. (Old school.) Right now I end up doing You Tube searches to...

    Garage Heater Question

I am looking at propane heaters for my attached garage which is 24' x 32' x 9'. I was leaning towards a vented heater with a blower but I see radiant heaters (ventless) and don't know which would be best. I'm in SW Ohio where winter temps are frequently in the 20's. Any colder and I won't be out...

Who has rebuilt their vent windows?

I think 1A Auto sells them already redone with a core charge if it seems too risky or time consuming.

    Cool Mirror Swap

When I had my '77 K20 I could open the vent windows and the back slider and get lots of airflow without sucking debris in from the bed while hauling firewood home. Really liked that on a non-A/C truck! (Plus, didn't have to sweep the bed before going back for the next load.)

    Standard or Deluxe?

My '88 Silverado K5 has black insert but I was asked by glass company which one I had. Chrome just waaaay more expensive if I wanted to switch to it since I didn't already have the chrome pieces. Probably depends on whether the truck was ordered with the chrome insert. I know this doesn't really...

    K5 vs Truck Windshield Glass

'88 K5 same as '73-'87 pickups. I pointed this out to glass companies. ??? Asked about '87 truck windshield prices.

    Rear tailgate glass channel position?

Not sure if this is addressing your problem but my K5 has a switch located at the LH latch (inside the tailgate) that prevents the tailgate from opening when the window is in the up position. I think it is there to prevent trying to open the tailgate with the window up as, being locked in the...

    Vent window rebuild

I ordered the complete K5 seal kit from 1A Auto and am I ever dreading doing those! Going to wait till the K5 gets painted then hope I don't scratch it all up putting them in! Was putting them back in really tedious? Actually even considered taking to an auto glass shop if the price is...

    BF Goodrich KM3

Tell me that wasn't you on that bike. (I know it was just a review of the camera but...) Crap like that is why cage drivers have a bad impression of motorcyclists and why they call them "murdercycles" in the ER! Sooner or later that crap will catch up to bikers who drive like that then there...

Stripping Clear Coat without Removing Tires

Like title says, is there a stripper I can safely use to remove clear coat from aluminum wheels without removing tires? Tires are brand new Toyo's put on by PO but wheels need polished and I don't want anything that will damage tires. Anyone have experience with a stripper that absolutely...

    Cheap radio

Crispy, thanks for the link. I, too, am looking for the same cheap radio but since my wiring harness is all butchered I went ahead and ordered the plug assembly. Since I'm determined to get a stock radio at least I can wire this up ahead of time. Thanks again! trukman1

1988 K5 Large or small radio?

I was trying to buy a cut-out to repair a hack job, by PO, on my Blazer dash. Seller of a piece asked me if mine came with larger radio or smaller. I had no idea there was a difference but he said his '89 'Burb came with the larger radio. Can anyone help me determine which my '88 came with...

Dumb, no stupid things PO's have done to you

Little things like drilling a hole in the roof to mount a cb antenna, and if that wasnt bad enough, without even sealing it so it leaked ruining the headliner, drilling holes in the console to mount the cb mic, cutting holes all over for additional speakers, putting broken side emblems on with...
