    New in TX

Welcome aboard, from a fellow Texan! Got any pics of the truck? We love pictures here! :D

    5.3 intake

99-06' will fit 07'-up with Cathredral port heads. If the later 6.0 has rectangle ports, you'll need to use the newer intake.

    5.3 intake

Yep, all truck engines used the same intake manifold, generally, from 99-06'. 07'-up are a bit different. There are small differences, like mounting bosses for covers, returnless vs return fuel system, EGR, etc, over the years, but they are generally interchangeable.

    Compressor delete

Should work great. Used one on a Serpentine upgrade on a 70' C10 with no issues.

    Bolt question!

Alright, here is the dished 5.3L flex plate. If this is the flex plate you have, you'll need the flex plate and spacer kit from PACE. Otherwise, you should be good. You can always double check and see if you have a spacer behind the flywheel already, if you have any doubts.

    Bolt question!

I bought mine from Pace Performance. They are GM genuine parts. If yours is just a slight dip, small in diameter in the center, it might be the flat flex plate. I'll go snag a picture of the dished 5.3L flex plate for comparison...

    87 R10 LWB Lift

1 ton big block springs might raise it up a little, but it'll ride rougher. There used to be a company that sold a lift for 2WD Squares, but they are long gone.

Fix Slamming Doors - Striker Door Latch Repair

Not sure if the Suburbans are different from the crewcabs, but I was able to get access to the backing nut after removing the B-pillar trim...after I dropped the nut down the pillar, lol. I tried to hold it in place with a magnet while unscrewing the striker. It didn't work. That sucker dropped...

    Bolt question!

Bellhousing bolts are M10x1.5x35mm. Torque converter will be standard TH400, not sure what they are (maybe 3/8 like HRPC mentioned). Do you already have the flat flex plate and crank spacer?

What have you done to your square lately??

Reinstalled the glove box....5 months after I removed it. :D

    6.0 swap

Yeah, 4WD may be a little different. I have no hands on experience there, unfortunately. Check out LS Swapped Square Body GM Trucks ('73-'86 C/K & '87-'91 R/V) on Facebook. Lots of good guys and info on there.

Old gas tank for Diesel? galvanized

I'd just order a tank for a 5.7L diesel squarebody. Being it was a diesel, I'd assume it would work just fine. A tank from a 6.2L diesel square may work as well, but I think the filler neck is a different size than the earlier tanks.

    6.0 swap

Yep, they will work the same on a 6.0L. I can remove and re-install mine if I remove the fan shroud, without touching the engine.

    6.0 wire to cable

The PCM often has to be changed. A lot of the DBW PCMs lack the driver for the Idle Air Controller used on DBC setups. I think LT1Swap.com has a list of which PCMs can control one.

    6.0 swap

I used Tejas Steelworks mounts for the transmission and engine (Store: https://squareup.com/store/tejassteelworks). They position the engine slightly forward and up, allowing you to use the factory truck compressor (Denso 10S17F or 10S20F). You will likely need to make a small notch on the frame...

    2002 - 4.8L to 5.3L or should I go to a 5.7L?

That Caprice is sweet! I've got the itch to swap an LQ9 6.0L into my 91' Caprice to add a bit of power. After driving my 3/4 ton crewcab with a 6.0L, I'm a bit spoiled now. The Caprice feels way underpowered. Definitely looking forward to your progress!

TH350 to 4L80E Tranny Swap in 77 SBC K25 Suburban

It's pretty straight forward for the most part. You'll need an aftermarket controller, new driveshaft (or shortened factory, anyway), possibly modified cooler lines, depending on which year 4L80E you get, and misc odds and ends. You should be able to reuse the factory crossmember, just need to...

What have you done to your square lately??

ClassicParts has them, and is generally considered one of the better replacements. I had them on my 84' for 4 years in the Texas sun and heat, and they were still in great shape when I sold it. I've heard not-so-good things about the LMC seals though.

    Tailgate Trunnions

73-78 trunnions should work for you. They went to the smaller trunnions after that, I believe.

What have you done to your square lately??

Sounds like the guy had no gumption if he gave it up over a heater core leak. Probably a good thing it's staying with you, LOL!

    Low vent flow

I'd also make sure that the vacuum source for the climate control is actually hooked up to something. It comes out of the firewall right by the A/C box. It should go to a Tee check valve, with a vacuum line to the engine, and a vacuum line to the little vacuum ball on the firewall. All of that...

How Good is my gas mileage?

    It's all over the board... My 87' 1/2 ton with the TBI 305 and 700R4 got 17 highway, 13 city. 3.08 gears. My 84', 1/2 ton with the TBI 305 from the 87' and a TH350, 10 city, 10 highway. 3.08 gears. My 88' 3/4 ton with 6.0L LS and 4L80E, 14 city, 18-19 highway. 4.10 gears. The one you'd expect...

    My First LS Swap

There are a bunch of different brackets available. Vintage Air uses Sanden compressors, so you would just need to find out which compressor their kit uses, and get the appropriate bracket. Vintage Air themselves may offer a bracket. Holley offers one, Kwik Performance, Dirty Dingo, etc, all...
