    Might have Over-torqued Rod Bolts 250 I6

I'm getting ready to put the new clutch and pressure plate on, and I realized that the new pressure plate is slightly different when it comes to the fingers. Is this something I should worry about? This truck originally had a 10 inch clutch, but I upgraded it to an 11 inch a while back.

    Might have Over-torqued Rod Bolts 250 I6

In got the engine fully back together and. . . PAINTED!!!! It's actually chevy orange this time instead of rustoleum red.

    Might have Over-torqued Rod Bolts 250 I6

I got all the new bolts in and torqued correctly They were a pain in the ass to get in, but I deem to have done it without ruining anything. At this rate, I might be putting this engine in this weekend.

    Might have Over-torqued Rod Bolts 250 I6

I won't lie, I was getting a bit paranoid myself, but no problem. Imagine what would've happended if I hadn't broken off that bolt. I would've put it back together, and it would've probably thrown a rod. As soon as I replace the bolts and torque them to 35ft/lbs the engine will be ready to go...

    Might have Over-torqued Rod Bolts 250 I6

Just picked these up today, the guy at the speed shop told me he had made the same mistake I had before, and that replacing them while in the engine is totally doable.

    Might have Over-torqued Rod Bolts 250 I6

Here's the thing, this is an old worn out engine that I was just throwing bearings into just for due diligence. I wasn't planning on taking it fully apart. I was wanting to throw this one in there while I sent the other one off to be rebuilt (by a professional). Do you think I could do the rod...

    Might have Over-torqued Rod Bolts 250 I6

So I'm doing main and rod bearings in this 250 I6 and I seem to have gotten the torque spec wrong on the rod caps. I thought it was 45 FTLB's when the Chilton's book says 35-40. I also broke one of the bolts accidentally, so I scavenged one from one of my old engines. Do you think I may have...

Muncie 4 Speed In A Truck?

So I'm getting the engine put back together on 'Ol Yeller, and I was thinking "Would a Muncie 4 speed be a good option for a truck?" These trucks never came with them, but it's got to be tougher than the saginaw 3 speed already in there, right? At one point a few years back, I did briefly have...

    '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee "Skinner"

I finally got the door, fender, and bumper thrown on. It's not fully reassembled yet, but it will be soon. Hopefully I'll be able to take it into work this week and get to work on that dent in the quarter. By the way, I figured out why this thing was totaled; it seems that its had the right...

    '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee "Skinner"

Gonna throw the fender on today. I just finished straightening it out. It's not perfect, but I think it looks pretty good since I did all the work with a claw hammer, screwdriver, and a piece of wood (All my body hammers and dollies are at work). (Before)

    '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee "Skinner"

I also got a new front bumper for it since the current one is painted when it's supposed to be plastic. That's because this Jeep has a rebuilt title after it got sideswiped a few years ago. (I will fix this quarter as soon as I have the chance). I'm not planning on giving this thing a full...

    '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee "Skinner"

Now this is where things get sad, the previous owner, my Uncle, just passed away at the age of 59 (His nickname was Skinner.) He really liked this Jeep, and so in his honor, I think I'm actually going to fix the body up for him. Now the very day he passed, I came across this '98 in a local...

    '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee "Skinner"

The story all starts with this low mile 2002 Lincoln Continental I picked up for $100. The car hadn't run in a decade, but I eventually got it going and road worthy. By the time I was done, I had a vehicle with 300HP, ice cold A/C, a clean interior, and decent looking paint. So what did I do...

    Show your daily driver

Did a couple of things to the old 'Burban recently. New shift knob. Steering wheel. And a new color matched door. (I wonder how may people I'll fool with the 2500 badge?).

Square body truck diecast for sale

I need one of those, maybe I'll turn it into a replica of 'Ol Yeller by cutting it in half and 3d printing a long bed for it.

    73-74 GMC Grille For Sale

I got the Grille restored, and unless someone really wants it ($$) its not for sale anymore. I'm going put it on my '74 and keep the original grille for when I actually restore the truck.

    73-74 GMC Grille For Sale

So I was lucky enough to stumble across this gem at a local junkyard in the bed of some ford (I never found the truck it came off). It's a little beat up, and missing the GMC emblem, but I'd consider it repairable. [I know this image is ****] I was thinking of keeping it as a spare for 'Ol...

This is probably a bad idea, but I'm too cheap to pay for a tow.

If I were back in rural Illinois I would do the chain thing (hell I once flat towed my buddies Ford Ranger 30 miles like that on back roads). My problem is that there aren't any backroads here in Denver. My destination is right in the center of a metropolitan area, so I'd get ticketed out the...

That's a good question, the truck doesn't move whatsoever. Maybe I could jack it up and set it on the Dolly. Also, I've already tried that route, and nobody in my class has a trailer big enough for the Burb. That's why I'm probably going to rent a U-Haul Dolly.

This is probably a bad idea, but I'm too cheap to pay for a tow.

I'm in Denver Colorado, so you can't help me. I am wanting to use a dolly for this precision operation since 'Ol Yeller doesn't really have the balls to tow both a trailer and truck at the same time. It really struggled when I was doing that joke.

This is probably a bad idea, but I'm too cheap to pay for a tow.

Okay, I actually have towed the Burb with 'Ol Yeller before, but only two miles for a practical joke. I was towing 'Ol Yeller with the Burb back from Colorado, and two miles from home I swapped them around. I wish I got a picture of my fathers face when I pulled into the driveway. I had been...

    New to the Forum

Welcome from Illinois! (Despite the fact that I'm currently in Colorado). '73/'74 GMC's are the best looking squares (I'm a bit bias). Anyways, nice looking truck, is that original paint?

This is probably a bad idea, but I'm too cheap to pay for a tow.

So as a few of you may know, the 4L60E in my '98 Busurban did what 4L60E's do best and blew up. This has put me in a situation where I'm exclusively driving 'Ol Yeller day to day. If I want to fix the Burb, I need to get it 20 miles to the Trade School I'm currently going to. Since the truck...
