    Old GMC Truck Auction

I wish the best for you concerning health. I would have to say you cornered the market on mid 50's GMC's. All these trucks have stories. how did the one have "0" miles on it? I am still looking over the auction now..

DA New Pantina, at least temporarily

The last time I needed to strip a vehicle at my house, due to the amount of mess and dust it would have created, I used a 5" DA hooked up to a 20 gallon vacuum cleaner and honestly, never looked back. My Snap On air compressor powered DA has not been used in 10 years. I swear it paid for itself...

Installed a new 3", all spring, Tuff Country lift with new shocks along with stainless braid brake hoses, master cylinder, calipers, rotors and pads over the weekend. Cleaned and re packed the wheel bearings. Installed new inner fender to frame rubber shields. The front sway bar isn't connected...

    Oil sending unit hole issue

Is there an easier pipe plug to reach down by the oil filter to tap into the oil gallery? Maybe with a allen head, that you could remove and add a sensor?

    Painting rally wheel rim

I would make sure it will accept paint on top of it, not all will. POR-15 is a coating to prevent rust, I would read all the directions. Getting into something as simple as painting wheels, to do it right, can get expensive. I purchased black epoxy paint and used single stage urethane for the...

    Painting rally wheel rim

You will need to paint every surface with a "direct to metal" paint since they were sandblasted, then spray just the face of the wheel to get the factory look, "DTM" paint comes in different types, epoxy, enamel, etc but all have the ability to bond with the metal better than a standard primer...

Idle Mixture Screws Do Not Adjust Anything on 1974 454.

I would verify the distributor is installed correctly by bringing #1 up to TDC and seeing where the rotor is at. Then verify correct firing order. It was noted if the throttle plates are open too far, it takes it out of the idle circuit and the screws make little difference, this is true and...

    Edelbrock Carbureators,and Chinese Distribuors etc.etc.

Elelbrock's work well and are easy to tune with their kits and manuals available on line but when you get a bad one they are impossible. My neighbor had a brand new 650 installed 10 years ago on his Corvette and could never get it running right. I spent a little over an afternoon with it only to...

Engine cranks, but only starts after letting off key? - I'm perplexed

I had one a while ago that would do that and it was voltage drop causing it to either the distributor or ECM, when you let off the key the voltage returns to a point that it will function correctly and allow it to start. The cranking pulled the voltage too low even though there was not an issue...

    Cross pin bolt snapped

I ran into this a couple months back and dreaded it until I bought the kit to drill it out and remove the bolt. It was a 5 minute job with it. It has a threaded guide that a long 1/8th in drill bit can flex enough to allow you to drill a hole in the center of the bolts and use an easy out to...

    Fuel Line Repair at TBI

I am going to add my .02 Those fuel lines are 37 years old, I think it's cheap insurance to replace them because nothing good happens once they start leaking. They may be stainless steel braid on the outside but the inside is still rubber or a material that deteriorates.

    Hickey Push Bar

I spoke with a guy from MotorCityK5 at Dino's who said they are getting into reproducing some of the Hickey stuff although their site only has limited items. https://www.motorcityk5.com/c-9965-hickey-enterprises-exclusive.html What does this brush guard look like? I purchased a parts truck a...

    Dim Dash Lights

When I researched this and went to a parts store site, they list 194 as 4 watts, 168 as 5 watt and 161 as an interchange but didn't have the wattage. I didn't want to fight with the LEDs and ordered the 168s. I will update when I get to it. Alsop make sure your getting the correct voltage and...

Just started my first hands on squarebody build, looking for advice

They are out there. They don't' want to hear about your junkyard 5.3 swap, or your intake. cam and rusty headers on your small block. Build something with a new from GM engine and trans, fresh updated interior with Snowden seats, flawless body and paint with all GM sheetmetal, NOS parts used...

Just started my first hands on squarebody build, looking for advice

A Roadster Shop Legend chassis with a LT4 and 8L90 with all the options is $104K plus tax and freight. You still need the rest of the truck to put on it.

Just started my first hands on squarebody build, looking for advice

Anytime you deviate from stock, you narrow your audience. With that said, IMO, if it's done right and nails the look, somebody will fall in love with it, it will just take longer finding the buyer. Make sure the work you do is quality and looks professional, in other words, don't cut corners...

Not enough Edelbrock 1406 fuel pressure ?

As found in their tuning manual: Fuel Pumps and Pressure: Avoid extremes in fuel pressure. At IDLE, there should not be any more than 6.0 psi; if the vehicle has an adjustable fuel-pressure regulator, set it to 5.5 psi. With most fuel pumps the minimum fuel pressure is encountered at high rpm...

What have you done to your square lately??

That was obvious from the tires on it when we picked it up, LOL:rotflmao: I finally sold one I had been sitting on for a while to loosen up funds for this one. The past couple of months I have been buying everything needed to get it on the road as a daily driver. I pretty much shot the parts...

What have you done to your square lately??

I only used car wash soap the only time I washed it so not to take off any more paint, but yes Purple Power is my go to degreaser and cleanser. I am familiar of what it can do using it too strong.
