    Cheap, ugly, rusty S-10

Today, the asking price would probably be more like 1500 to 2k

Yeah, I know, but you eyeing a Neon made me laugh more than actually scoping out a real car or truck :happy175:

    Muffler recommendations

I’ve had the same Flowmaster 40 series on my 77 for 20+ years. Zero issues and sound great. Small block 350 true duals out the back With that said, I run black widow on the dually and love the sound of them on that, too. Big block 454 true duals with an H pipe Just my 2 cents. I like to try...

    Old77’s Oldest Kid’s 1992 S10 Blazer thread

Picked up this tool and ordered some of the umbrella style valve seals this week. Hoping to do this job with my son this winter. Need to pick up a service manual for the blazer so that I know all the torque specs and whatnots

All that makes perfect sense! :waytogo: There's so much info out there it's kind of overwhelming LOL Sure would be a lot easier if someone who wants a project would just come buy this thing.

Thanks for the education, Andy :) I plan on just running carb on whatever I find. I should just need to run wires for ignition, right, to make it run? I’m not planning on running any kind of computers or anything, but am I missing anything as I think this through? Of course, this will also...

That’s good to know! When you say “too much power” what is your estimate of “too much”? I’m not planning on doing anything other than keeping these engines stock at this point so probably 250 hp or well below. Would that be within its limits, you think?

Will also be researching if any of these solutions will bolt up to my existing 5 speed trans or if I need track something else down.

So, no real bites yet. I’ll let it run for another 7-10 days and go from there. QUESTION, thinking this might lead into a motor swap project, potentially, and there are a few vortec 350s on the market and have even stumbled upon a vortec 4.3 or 2, as well. If I ran these off a carb I wouldn’t...

    Old77's 1989 S10 tinkering project

Well, said buddy backed out on buying it so I’ve thrown it up on the place of markets for now. If it doesn’t sell for what I want in 2 weeks I’m either going to part it out or start looking at motor swap options. There are a couple engines of the LS flavor for sale locally at ok prices or may...

    Old77's 1989 S10 tinkering project

Another quandry I'm having is a buddy of mine has been asking me for a while to sell the truck to him. Part of my brain wants to start tearing into it and get the thing torn down but then the lazy part of my brain wants it to leave the driveway LOL He's got plans for it (if I sold it to him) and...

LOL We will discuss for sure. She did suggest pulling the S10 into the garage (giving up her garage space) while I tear into it. That's a big deal for her so gotta give her props and supporting the efforts as well as she can. I'm going to get it moved into the garage today. We'll see what happens.

Eventually I do have plans to V8 swap (possibly LS/possibly not) but was not planning on that this early since its main purpose is still to be my kids first rig while they save for their own vehicle. If I throw a V8 of any kind in this thing that is no longer going to be a thing lol

Agreed. I’m going to start taking it apart before assuming anything. If it’s a cracked block there’s some big boy decisions to be made then

I’ve got coolant coming out of the exhaust. Looks like head gasket failure

Well, just hopped in it. Hasn't ran since this morning so it's cold and she's definitely down a cylinder. You can hear it and it's lacking power. So I'm having it towed from work to my house and I'll start poking at it and decide what to do from there. Not sure if it's a lifter or valve or what...

 today it definitely read hot but no coolant overflowed and nothing burst or anything. Definitely wasn't happy. I'm going to go out and check on it again here in a bit.

Per the gauge, it's always ran WAY cooler than I'd expect before today. I'm not sure if it is possible to get the running temps up to factory LOL apparently they're really cool or hotter than 90's Shania Twain LOL

Not a bad idea. I hadn't thought about taking the rad out also clean it externally. I was thinking the coolant flush internally. Thanks for the idea!
