    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

The bold part makes me question what you got going on here. Are you saying you can hear stuff spinning but the truck won't move? And that you went to put it back in park and you had the grinding bounce from the park pawl? That sounds an awful lot like you have the T-case in neutral. The only way...

    Transmission cooler ideas

Long makes the coolers for B&M. B&M doesn't actually make any coolers themselves, they just take the Long ones and rebrand/jack up the price.

R12 to 134. Whats really needed to do this swap for a great working system. All parts needed?

My truck also took exactly 3-12oz cans of 134 to be right on the correct pressures.

R12 to 134. Whats really needed to do this swap for a great working system. All parts needed?

The only components I changed were the seals in the compressor, all O-rings, orifice tube, and the pressure switch. I still have the original condenser, A6 compressor, and evaporator. I tore the A6 apart and used a ~$25 rebuild kit to swap everything out including a modern double lip seal...

Auto A/C vacuum pump. lots of CFM or Less CFM whats best?? A/C tech's please help.

CFM rating has nothing to do with how much vacuum you can pull with elevation. Vacuum is read as a gauge pressure relative to atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric pressure is ~29.92 inhg at sea level and drops ~1inhg per 1000ft in elevation above sea level. The CFM rating tells you how fast the...

Regearing Advice... What do I need?

It's gonna be a hard grind to do both in a weekend. You will definitely want a crush sleeve eliminator kit for the 14 bolt. Trying to crush down a sleeve is a monster of a job on a 14 bolt. You need at least a 20 ton press or be able to put many hundreds of lb-ft of torque on it just to start...

    USA made sliding window assembly?

That's what I have on my 1980. Pulled from the junkyard out of an 84 and fit right into my 80 pickup. Its roughly equivalent to a 35% tint and is not a film. I had a local company tint my front windows to match and they are almost an exact tint match.

What have you done to your square lately??

My 1980 K25 pickup has the original everything in it including the compressor, condenser, and evaporator and it is ice cold almost all the time. I do have the low speed on the electric fans set to come on when the compressor is engaged though. The only things I changed when I converted to R134...

    USA made sliding window assembly?

There is no change in the rear window between years. 73-87 rear window is all the same. I have an aftermarket slider in mine that I pilfered from an 85 pickup in a junkyard for $40. Aftermarket window and regular non-slider seal fit perfect on my 1980 K25 pickup. I was replacing a factory slider...

New to pickups & fifth wheels

12v swapped square body. I wouldn't run a supercharger. All 12v's are going to be turbo'd as-is. 89-91 didn't have an intercooler, but the 94-98 ones will be best for a swap as they are intercooled and have the P-pump. You can try to find a wrecked 94-98 truck and take the whole drivetrain to...

New to pickups & fifth wheels

Its hugely limiting... and honestly trying to stay away from electronics will keep you away from the most reliable setups. In my opinion the only way you make an older truck match the limitations you have set is to get a 1 ton crew cab and swap in a 12v cummins and manual trans. That setup is...

New to pickups & fifth wheels

You aren't going to want to pull much of anything with a factory 80's diesel. The 6.2 is a dog and will barely pull itself. You could start with a C or K30 crew cab diesel, but I would suggest swapping in a cummins or duramax if you are going to use it for extended pulling duty with the hills we...

87 SILVERADO WITH AN 78 350 BORD 40 OVER WILL NOT STAY RUNNING AFTER SEAFOM

You might have knocked loose some junk in the tank and the sock could be clogged now. I would let the tank run low and then drop it to see what the inside of the tank and the pickup filter looks like. Put a new filter sock on it while you have it out. Then go through and PROPERLY set the...

    Oil pressure gauge problem

Oh, yep... that's right. So he probably has a switch instead of a sending unit. No oil pressure when it's off, so its closed and driving the gauge off the needle high. I think there are two "switch" units also. One is a two prong unit and it is the other way around to drive the fuel pump in...

    Oil pressure gauge problem

Is it a single prong sensor? It should never be 0 ohms from the prong to the body. The way the gauges work is a constant 12v fed along the sensor wire to the sensor from the gauge. The sensor then varies the resistance to ground to move the needle on the gauge. Short to ground(0 ohms) will drive...

    Gas tank swap

I would get the newer EFI tank. The only difference is that the EFI tank has a big baffle in it, which isn't necessary for carb, but is still nice to have. You can run an early sending unit in the later EFI tank no problem. I have a late EFI Blazer 31 Gallon tank in mine with the EFI sending...

Fuel filler issue. This can’t be right.

It's hard to tell from your picture, but it doesn't look like that is true. I have an 80 K25 8600GVW with dual tanks just like you and Taylor. It looked just like your picture and had no issues with fueling at full tilt in either tank. You have an issue with an obstruction i neither the fill...

A/C blower always running when key on

For all intents and purposes, 80 is the last of the 70's models. 78-80 is the model year divisions for most trim options and wiring. 81-up is the new body style front end and major electrical/systems changes. My 80 K25 is a Sierra Classic w/AC and the blower always runs also. I'll probably...

1990 Suburban oil pressure gauge only reads 30 PSI

Sounds like the sensor is bad or you have poor grounds from the engine to the battery. Its also common to have corrosion or too much sealant/tape on the sensor when it is screwed into the head and that can cause the sensor to not be able to ground properly through the threads.

1990 Suburban oil pressure gauge only reads 30 PSI

First time I've seen this thread pop up on the recent list... sorry you haven't gotten any responses before now. The gauges work by sending a voltage signal down the sensor wire that is then grounded with a variable resistance to the engine block through the sensor. This works the same way on...

    Cruise set up for LS

If you are using an aftermarket cruise control stalk, you have to do some relay trickery to get it working. I have a wiring diagram somewhere for it. If you are using factory cruise control stalk, it is easier. You will need the cruise control module from the donor as well as a cable that fits...

What have you done to your square lately??

If you are talking about the TH400/208 in your sig, then yes.. a cracked housing will leak. The TH400 and 4l80 are open vented to the rear on a 4wd and will spray a small amount of trans fluid out the back. If the adapter is properly sealed, it will just run right down the housing into the pan...

What have you done to your square lately??

I was looking at getting one for mine. I have at least 1000 miles on the 6.2 now. I put a tank through it(~300 miles) while tuning the 6.2 and then drained the break-in oil and WIX filter for Mobil 1 synthetic and an AC Delco PF63 filter. My wife then drove it out to Idaho and back over the...
