I have an 83 1/2 ton silverado short bed frame with a 78 El Camino body sitting on it. The previous owner had used a fuel cell in the bed. I would like to put a blazer/suburban type fuel tank on this short bed frame so that it has the fuel tank in the back between the frame rails. I bought an 88 suburban frame for the crossmembers that hold the tank, and I'll use new straps. The 88 suburban tank has a fuel pump in it, and is pretty rusty so I want to buy a new tank and sending unit without the fuel pump assembly. Will an 82-86 non-EFI blazer/suburban tank fit using the 88 crossmembers without too much modification? I figure I might need to drill a hole or 2, no big deal. I'm not worried about the fuel lines. I will be using an old school motor with a mechanical pump. Pics of the truck included.
