292 to 427T industrial swap, in C30. Many questions on fitment.

Both trucks were 30 Series 4X4 with a T400 transmissions. The only tall deck I used a Dart because the stock one was a double thermostat version and was huge.It allowed me to use a standard water pump. Since I was changing it I decided to use the short shaft to take the extra room at the rear of...

Never followed a "6" with a Big Block. Replaced small block and 6.2/6.5 also. You will need a hydroboost lower power steering bracket for the big block. The small block I replaced with a steel crank 454 out of a 2WD Suburban. I used the motor mounts from the Suburban. The Big Block T replacement...

    MACHINING 16.5" DOWN TO 16"?

Wheels used on highways have to be DOT approved. Anytime you modify a DOT wheel it loses it's approval. Someone hits me with unapproved wheels I'll sue his rear off for operating unsafe vehicle.

    Where to buy tires

As a side note, Firestone is the tire company with the record of the 2 largest tire recalls in tire history. In 2000 I got my money back for my ATX's and promptly replaced them with BFG. They had a large recall in 1978 also.

    427 Tall Deck

I like my 366T. Paid $600 running and fully dressed, recent overhaul. As an everday setup, no racing.

The D30 designation shows up in the serial number because it was built for the military. They're not entirely exact to the civilian model. I have done a gasser installation of one of these but, kept much of the 24V system so that it would be still compatible with my other ex-military equipment...

Great truck to work with. First though know the truck's model is a D30, not a K. Second, beware of all the 24V that is included in the fuseblock when wiring things up. I ran 255/85-16 BFG Muds on mine on stock wheels and no lift. Never any tire interference.

    Big Block Valve Covers

When I had my 64 Ford Fairlane GT it had 289 Hi perf emblems on the fenders. That's what I said it was while it was actually powered by a 427 Chevy. When they looked inderneath and questioned the even spaced header down pipes and rear sump oil pan I simply told them it was a 302 setup out of a...

    33X12.5X15 Mud Terrain Tires

Just about the time the "street truck" tires started to grow I bought some 10" wide wheels and mounted 12.00/16.5 Armstrong Tru Tracks on them for the rear of my 1969 Longhorn. I had Goodyear 7.50-16 Hi Milers on the front, split rims. Back then even some base model i/2 tons came with the 2...

    Funny and scary

I have done two "bobb'd" trucks. The one pictured is my first. That one has a M105A2 bed. My"Jeep" pickup version. Loosely built following the specifications of a XM381 prototype circa 1955. My other truck I shortened the bed to 9' by cutting out of the middle. Both are 136" WB. My favorite MV...

    Funny and scary

When I transplanted the TDBB in place of the original 6.2 in my 1986 M1008 I thought about it for a bit. I often replaced the original cast iron headers for aftermarket headers, usually Hedman back in the old days, for street vehicles. When I was going for performance Jardine's were a favorite...

    Stumped, fender marker/turn light issue

Most all the grounds in the "forward lamp harness" are in a press clip covered with duct tape inside the conduit approximately right behind/below the distributor. Pain to get at but often have found broken/cut wires here.
