    Cheap defective aftermarket parts….lol

So’s I come home last night, walking thru the garage that I’d just cleaned the floors in couple days ago. So no errant oil drips; stains etc on the floor. Office a new puddle under ole brown. Sure nough the aftermarket auxiliary fuel tank circa 1970s is leaking just a tad. Coincidentally I...

    Just curious.

@Laqota, bummer dude. I’m not an expert at reading engines, but it certainly appears to be eating coolant on #5 and possibly others. If it was a smooth running engine save for the coolant leak and you have more time than money, I’d consider cleaning up the head and block, straight edge it and...

83’ Blazer: In need of a factory muffler heat shield

Do you actually need one? I ran the K20 for a while after painting it with no heat shields on 3” duals 40 series. But to your question, it just occurred to me that the 86K20 original 350 truck has dual heat shields…and I’d have bet the farm that it was originally factory single exhuast? Well...

1987 454 TBI down on power, runs good otherwise

Wish I could help @beady but I’m not very knowledgeable about auto transmissions. However there’s plenty of folks on here who are, I’d giver a bit and you may get some much more definitive advice. Sounds like a nice rig though.

1987 454 TBI down on power, runs good otherwise

Probably a TH400 but OP didn’t say. @beady, so fresh rebuild didn’t slip a couple weeks ago and now does? Did the seller give you the rebuild receipt? Since it was just done? Likely there’s warranty, although maybe you can get the seller to take it in? Little gippo shops a lot of times only...

    'Nuther Air Compressor Question

Ok my apologies then, you didn’t mention that you had it hooked thru a transfer switch. Thats mo’ safer. Here’s an idea, presuming you’re planning on running power to the shop at some point. If you’ve calculated the voltage loss and it makes sense with what you’re seeing (You don’t say, but is...

    'Nuther Air Compressor Question

My 5hp single phase 220v belt drive compressor has been running for years on a couple hundred ft of 10ga and a 30A breaker in the sub panel. I think there’s something wrong with your setup and won’t even comment on the janky “back feed the house during power outages” setup. Presume you’ve...

    10 or 12 wides?

No. True 35s (IE new mud tires) barely don’t rub on a 5” K20 lift with 20x9 at 4” BS. If you’re looking to actually fit a big tire and positive offset wheel on the front of a square without an abnormally large lift compared to what you’d expect, you need to relocate the front axle forward...

1987 454 TBI down on power, runs good otherwise

Maybe hook up a tach so you can easily see how much it’s revving when it shouldn’t be. I’m not a trans expert but it should be able to smoke the tires from a Brake stand on pavement too. Tq converter would be bad at all speeds or gears I think. Maybe slipping clutches or? In 3rd or 4th gear...

Another exhaust options thread - what should I do?

Muffler could easily have a baffle rattling around in it. That is annoying.

    Brakes

That could be the problem but if you can’t get fluid to the back brakes the proportioning valve is tripped. Just replace it anyways. Old truck.

    Front bumper opinion on position

Looks fckin straight as any square out there… If you want it twisted back a little bit, hit something about 2’ off the ground at 5 mph dead on. Lol. Won’t need to enlarge the holes….. Seriously it looks fine.

    Door striker question

And if you want one step better, shim the bottom door hinge. It’s probably sagging. That’s why it hangs up on the striker. They really work nice when they don’t drag at all. And it’s free or like $12 if you buy real body shims.

Use 1/2” Pex pipe. Works great.

Multiple Battery types and the danger of diode damage with modern batteries mixed with Lead Acid and OEM alternators.

@RanchWelder Well that makes no sense since a complete NEW Demco slider hitch with rails goes for less than half of that much $. Or 3/4 as much for the largest capacity models.

    Hi, I’m new here

@270win I sort of agree with you on the cutting up a classic thing, however unless you have a pristine original original truck, these trucks aren’t even close to rare and my thoughts are, there are so many and they’re so popular that you’re not going to hurt the value of a run of the mill...

    Hi, I’m new here

At least you’re down south so decent squares are more plentiful than the rust belt. But, shipping a running vehicle is not “that” expensive. So see what’s out there out of your local area. And you’re a long ways from the PNW, but there is a plethora of clean squares in this corner of the...

    Hi, I’m new here

There’s a lot of 4 speed trucks out there. Juice not worth the squeeze there IMO unless you’re gettin a smoking deal on an auto truck. And IF I was gonna swap I’d put that work to better use and find an OD trans, A833 if you can stumble on one, or a NV swap. It’s a lot of work either way, so...

    Drive line

Never seen a yoke that “wore out”. Seen some trashed. I’d have been skeptical as well @SquareRoot. @Clovis ya I thought my long bed c10 was all larger diameter but idk? If there’s not enough length to support the whole yoke then I suppose they are right.

That’s awesome of Skyjacker to warranty them. I was gonna suggest having the one spring re-arched.
