    BB ac bracket(s)

That's an R4 compressor. The big blocks didn't use an R4 compressor until the serpentine belt setup in the later years. The new body trucks got them in '88, I believe the squarebody trucks got them in '89.

    TH400 Information Thread

What is the chances that the separator plate gasket can be reused? 15 years old, but probably only 1000 miles on it. Basically, what parts should be on hand before tearing into it?

    TH400 Information Thread

@NickTransmissions and @Matt69olds I'm looking for advice regarding the th400 trans in my K30 truck. The trans itself is a 1980 model, iirc. It was overhauled by a local shop 14 or 15 years ago... but it sat under my workbench until a little over a year ago before I finally installed it. I...

    1989 Chevy K1500

The truck is up and running pretty well now. It turned out that it didn't have spark. There was a remanufactured distributor in it, that I'm guessing had a failed ignition module. I didn't bother replacing just the module because oil was somehow wicking up the distributor shaft and the top of...

1992 RS Camaro. First car for Der Burger.

I remembered to snap a picture of the non-80 series model. This one in particular is a 2.5" inlet and outlets. I just now noticed that they are not made in the USA anymore.

So can someone tell me . . .

Yeah if you are talking 5-lug, they came in many widths and backspacing depending on application. Iirc, even Caprice cop cars got their own dedicated version of the wheel.

So can someone tell me . . .

I believe most of the 6-lug rallies were 8" wide, with some being 7" wide. I personally don't remember seeing a 7" myself and I don't know what they came on.

Bringing the Cat back...enough is enough.

I guess I didn't go into enough detail, so here's this as an example. There were late 90's vortec 350 pickups with the little y-pipe and a single converter, but the very same engine in an Express van got dual 3" exhaust, and two converters that fed into a single muffler. Same engines, same time...

Bringing the Cat back...enough is enough.

I understand the small y-pipe and single converter, it makes sense for heat. What confuses me is why GM went this route on a lot of trucks/vans, but on others, they had large (like 2.75") pipes into dual converters, sometimes with one of the converters mounted all the way back by the muffler...

86 Suburban 2nd row shouldber belts

I don't disagree with you about that, I just feel that spending 20-40 bucks on a set of belts for an improvement in safety isn't necessarily a bad choice. Child safety seats are the same way. You are supposed to discard them after a certain amount of time. 5 or 7 years or something like that...

    Correcting uneven suspension

The newer ones are some fancy Kevlar material, but the older ones are not. Iirc, the rear bushing bolt increased in size in '87/'88 and that's the size ORD uses with their bushings and HD shackles. This is just off memory, so I could be incorrect.

86 Suburban 2nd row shouldber belts

Imho, if you are replacing a really old used seat belt, with another really old used seat belt that has a shoulder strap, you are still improving the safety. Besides, you can kinda tell the condition of the seat belt just by inspecting it. If it's still soft, flexible, has no cuts or abrasions...

    Carb at high alt

Can you disable the fans while at road speed? An electric fan running at road speed can hurt airflow through the radiator more than when it is off.

1992 RS Camaro. First car for Der Burger.

Man, that car has had some PO's that just did not care. Yeah, the crossflow 80 series muffler is slightly on the quiet side of things. They do still offer a crossflow type muffler that is significantly louder, but it hasn't been included with any of the '82-'92 cat-back kits in probably 25 years.

I guess this is a good example of why it's ok to ask a question that may be simple? But I guess a bunch of folks in an e-lodge may be no better than Google, lol. So maybe the real answer is "measure for a driveshaft when you get the dang trans installed, newb"

    GMT 400 Suburban dually - info ?

Yeah, the SS is owned by me. I was just a youngster when they were new and always wanted one, but figured I'd never get my hands on one. But I did, lol. Since your new truck and that Burb have the same lights, I'd assume that they were produced by GM for export. Now I wonder if they somehow...
