Gauge Cluster Teardown and Rebuild - Beware, Pic Heavy!

Very true. Besides that, often the contacts on the printed circuit need cleaned and a bulb replacement may not fix the issue.

    52” front leaf spring setup

Are they the completely flat ones, or the ones that have a slight curve to engage the main leaf sooner?

    52” front leaf spring setup

The overloads, if the straight and flat type, will just kind of be along for the ride so there's no point in having them up front.

    Aftermarket hood does not open

^^^ This^^^ If a hood latch is out of adjustment, the pressure from the spring can cause the latch to bind more. When you finally get the hood open, remove the latch. Then adjust the hood to lay closed properly. Then install the latch and adjust it so the hood will close and still line up when...

Installing a New Exhaust System Including Headers

What brand headers are hitting the driveshaft? I've owned many and the driveshaft is not a clearance issue I've ever had.

Sirius/XM "Roady" with original GM truck radio

Make sure to get one that can easily change the frequency that it uses. If you are traveling all day and get too close to a strong station on the frequency it uses, it will take over what you are trying to listen to.

What’s IT Worth? (Post all “what’s it worth threads here)

It's hard to judge the market since they are so uncommon. I think the most I've ever heard of someone asking for a complete setup was 800 bucks. Far cheaper than any nv4500 setup I've seen.

What have you done to your square lately??

That's a WONDERFUL choice of color! I'm a big fan of dark metallic greens, especially with gold toned metal flake (as opposed to the typical silver or blue).

    Rear shackle angle

Your angle seems to be fine as well. Tension shackle works a bit different than the compression shackle shown above.

    Check out my rear end

Hmm, going through that, it seems we never determined if that was factory installed or not. Maybe it was Silvy? Did you get that one from the original owner? I swear at some point it was determined you had a factory installed limited slip. But maybe it's just been too long and my memory is going.

    What year tailgate is this??

I have a Chevy Celebrity that I sold to a fella I knew. In the time he had it, it was wrecked twice and his ex wife smashed a bunch of windows and did other body damage. I bought it back and fixed it with parts from 6 different cars. It was multiple colors for a number of years and got the name...

    Check out my rear end

I don't recall about the RPO code, but I do know that the G80 cade was also used in 80's cars that had a limited slip. PawPaw's Burbs were '89 and '90, but I don't remember which one had the limited slip and not a gov-loc. @89Suburban

    CROSS MEMBER FRAME BROKEN

Just one crack in the crossmember? I'd simply weld it up. But usually when they crack, its a few cracks and a couple busted rivets. ORD makes a really nice engine crossmember to replace it. You can get them for small block, big block and with factory style engine mount provisions or their HD...

    Detroit Locker question......

Yeah, the strange looks from folks is just part of functional truck ownership, imho. I get funny looks when driving a welded diff around town, and people are often confused if they happen to hear my tire balance BB's come jingling out of suspension as I come to a stop.

WANTED: drivers fender color matched for my 89 burb

I've got a really nice passenger fender, it even has the correct antenna hole for your year. But it's not even close to your colors.

    Check out my rear end

I always thought that every truck in the 80's got either a Gov Loc or an open diff, but @89Suburban had a rig with a factory installed limited slip.

    Thoughts on carb spacers?

Carb spacer on a Rochester 2bbl? That's a complete waste of time and energy, imho. However, if you don't want to commit to a 4bbl, I do recommend getting an adapter and mounting up a Holley 2bbl. Its very simple, the butt dyno says it adds power, and you can actually tune the damn thing too.

    What year tailgate is this??

That's a '77 hood. It was the first year for the safety catch provision that was part of the inside hood release option and the last year without a provision for the cowl safety interlock thing. A '77 hood will have this little rectangular opening ahead of the striker plate: But not have...

I also had one come out of place years ago, I just hammered it back in and it was fine after that. They were even heads that I had redone not long before that.
