    Dana 44 front axle issues

So how does the tru trac do on the road with drive slugs?? Not much binding then? Who says a D60 goes down the road worse than the lighter axles? Mine go down the road just the same as the 10 bolts do. Which is nicely.

What have you done to your square lately??

I recently put those very same valve extensions on my dually. My simulators (wheel covers) have openings much smaller than the wheels themselves, so I clamped them onto the simulator, rather than the rim. To do that, the clamps needed longer bolts installed. They are metric bolts, M6x1.0 if I...

It depends on location and how it's mounted. If the coilovers are mounted exactly where the original coil springs were, it should be comparable. But I'm no spring expert.

    tranny mount/crossmember- urgent help needed

Something is amiss here. Because everyone else with a K10 or K20 has the crossmember below the frame. Well, except probably some that have been boon rigged.

Tires for Stock Rims '79 K20

I've got 80k out of tires a few times. My dad got 120k+ on a set of Avon tires. After about 60k, they got rock hard and quit wearing. They eventually were dangerous in rain and snow and we replaced them.

I've been hoping to come across some ZR2's so I could peak at the brakes, but no such luck. My buddy had an '01 and an '00, both had drums from what I remember. I did see one of those later crew cabs with the really short bed yesterday and it had the ZR5 appearance package with the thin spoked...

    tranny mount/crossmember- urgent help needed

It doesn't matter if the spacers are on top or below, as long as they aren't between the frame and the crossmember.

Tires for Stock Rims '79 K20

It is extremely common to run a 285/75/16 on a 6.5" wide rim. It's not "proper" based on the specs given by most tire manufacturers, but it works. The 265 tire you mentioned is closer to spec, but I believe it's actually just a tad shorter in OD than your current 235/85 tire.

In addition, it should be a Dana 70 HD. I'm not sure if that makes a difference with bearings. How is the gearing not correct, do to a transmission swap? Both transmissions are 1:1 ratio in top gear.

    tranny mount/crossmember- urgent help needed

I'd guess that the nuts were on the bottom, then the bolts were left dangling in the frame. I've actually seen that before. Whether broken or simply loosened, the spacers being gone or used between the frame and crossmember could have caused that.

BFG KO3 vs Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T

No sir, I was making a statement. Siping can increase the amount of tread squirm, which can be very annoying at higher speeds. Or even a bit on the dangerous side of things with a not-so-competent driver behind the wheel. Especially when towing. If siping had no side-effects, all tires would...

    tranny mount/crossmember- urgent help needed

The spacers are needed for proper bolt stretch when tightened down. A really short bolt has very little room for stretch, making it more likely to break when loaded (like when the chassis flexes). There's two different styles of mounts used. The '85-up style is a single unit and just one height.
