They help more than they hurt generally unless seriously neglected. doubtful it’s rusted underneath. A truck that clean anyway.

Thanks! That's the color it was when granddad drove it off the lot in 1980... I was with him! I have looked under the truck and there's only some surface rust from sitting - but it was in the garage all the time.

Why haven't I looked already - Great Question! I travel a lot for work and I'm only home about once a month. I snapped these photos and got curious on my way out of town the other day....

No worries. I do like this bedliner when working. I feel as if I an toss anything in there without worry about damaging the truck!

I tried very hard to find a bed liner for mine and had no luck at all. I end up hand scraping the old spray bed liner off the bed and tail gate, sanding, priming and re-coating with roll on bed liner. It was a super hard job and took a lot of time but came out pretty good. No holes or rot in the bed but the bed floor had waviness in it and a few dings. I put in a 3/8" thick bed liner mat over it and it looks real good. I still would probably ideally prefer a bed liner to hide the waviness but the roll on liner came out so good I am going to leave it.

I haven't even seen a new one since the early 1990s.

Had one in an S-15. Very hard to work with. Standing on it was as slippery as ice.

Mine was a little different in the 73 K20, but when I started my build, I pulled it, and there was quite a bit of rust.....I will Rhino line it like I did on the 85 when it is finished. Grandson learning to Rhino line, this is underneath.

TBH if you're going to toss it, cut it down almost flat and just inside the wheel bumps. I use it for a creeper/ transmission slider/tool tray/oil catcher. Mine works great, especially if the grounds cracked or sandy and tool loss could happen.
