I like the turbines. I have a set on my 77. Had to buy vortrax 16.5s for it.
Were they worth the money? I’ve got a set of 16.5 5 slots and was thinking about buying those tires. Where did you get them? I also really like the turbine wheels!

Yes the tires are great. They are 33x12.50x16.5. They are radials so they ride very nice. I had to get one warrantied and vortrax was great to deal with. Their rep told me they make two runs of 16.5s a year and don't plan to stop production anytime soon. I may list them for sale pretty soon. The truck is a too tall to get in my shop door with the 33s..

That’s great to hear they’re good tires. The only thing holding me back is the price. Do you know of any other tire made in 16.5 that’s more affordable? And I don’t mean the real old style ones from the 40s - 60s style. I’m looking for a more modern look like the vortrac.
Thanks

I’m going to go to the Les Schwab dealership today as they’re the ones that carry that Vortrak LT tire and see if they can get them in 16.5. I will let everyone know if they can find them. That’s what I’m looking for to put on my Indy’s.

Good luck. Unless somehow Yakima has the last competent Les Schwabs that doesn’t literally overcharge for everything including their house brands of re branded Dean or Korean tires.
That place has taken over from Firestone as the absolute biggest ripoff tire and brake shop chain on the planet….
And when there’s so many other options especially when looking for hard to find stuff.
And considering you could order them online and they’d be sitting at your door in a week or less from multiple suppliers.
Just throwing out ideas…and a public service notice about Schwabbys!
Merry Christmas!

Case in point, my (very lucky) son was given a Schwabs gift certificate for new tires by his very generous hockey family.
The best tires they have, the rebranded Deans, nice tires, were like $375/ea plus m&b. By comparison, same size Toyo AT3s, basically the gold standard for AT tires are <$300. And “good” tires in that size and tread are $250ish.
I’m just trying to help all the GMSB bros who don’t know how bad Schwabs is.

Apologies, I don’t mean to be baggin on your post @Craig Nedrow, just can let an opportunity pass to spread the word about what an absolute ripoff Schwabs has become on all fronts.

Cheers!

I agree, they did everything for me for years, tractor, truck, car pickup. A few years age needed tires for the Buick, they were **** lasted less then 30000, so took the car back, and no warranty. Had one replaced that was really bad, full price. So while I was there I looked for a us based tire, could find none. So when I paid for the replacement tire, asked Shawn the MGR, if they carried BFG as I needed a set, and said he could order them, but since it was not a line they carried at the Selah store, they would be expensive. ANYWAY, all offshore, and that doesn't work for me. I now go to a little independent shop, and can get American based tires, Hercules by Cooper, and they are great. My Tires on the C20:

Its so hard to find who makes what now days searching on the computer

I couldnt find anyone/anything. Only the new pricey US Mag 17X10

Ultra makes the closest thing to the old Eagle Alloy 058 , but its a crap shoot what variation you'll get when you open the box

Too many real stupid, ugly looking rims/wheels on the market now days

Someone needs to start remaking that Rim in many configurations again
I’m still mad that they discontinued the 058. I had 2 different sets over the years, both 16x8 6 lug. I should have kept them.

058 was nice wheel, though I sort of like the larger holes of the 186 a bit better.
