What did we do before cup holders?

I can remember driving to work with a cup of coffee setting on the floorboard.
And if some remember, some of the insulated coffee cups were shaped like a pyramid and some were weighted.
But folks were a bit more robust back then & able to drive for a hour or two without "needing" a beverage in order to survive the trip.

Cupholders.com for the one on the seat, Snowden custom seats for the one on the floor. Floor one wedges between the seat and the floor

I like the floor cup holder so my lady can still sit next to me. The only advantage of a bench sit.

My Cutlass lacked cup holders as well, and after several years of the plastic hump riders, I built this-

It could be better, currently all glued and stapled with no sewing, but functionally it's great. Link to cup inserts that hold can koozie, mid size Gatorade, 32 oz. foam, or 30 oz. stainless cup, for you know, hydration:
