I drove the truck for the first time since getting it from Redding CA 2 1/2 years ago. Fixed a leaking pinion seal, torqued all the new suspension components, lug nuts, checked air pressures, pressure tested the tank and vent system for emissions before taking it out on its maiden voyage. Forgot to plug the speedometer cable back in so it set a CEL, corrected that, took it for another spin. All and all, it doesn't run too bad, transmission hits all 4 gears and lock up, can't ask for much more. Still have a ton to do but I know it will drive now. Put about 20 miles on it.

Good job Mike! Just adding the wheels and tires is a 1000% improvement.

Thanks!

I like the fact it's not restored..I walked around Dino's yesterday and there just wasn't anything like it. It's far from perfect but it's honest. It can still be a truck, I can still haul or tow stuff and not freak out. I will post pics once I get the interior back together.

It's a really good thing I didn't have a set budget for this. :rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao:

How is your neighbor doing?

She's doing ok! Her son is taking care of her, but she's still doing the 4h thing.
Excellent!, keep her busy.

And on another note, passed emissions today on the first try which surprised me but I will take it. It's officially on the road.

Drove it. Feeling patriotic. Just a boy and his Dad riding around the neighborhood celebrating living free in the greatest country on Earth.

I’m glad I don’t have to do emission testing…. :Big Laugh:

(Wouldn’t ever pass)
Texas is doing away with the safety inspection next year. We don't have emissions for them anyways but I still think a basic safety inspection is still needed so you're not driving a huge pos with bad brakes, tires, lights and ect. Guess they don't feel the same. Hmm...:hmm:

Thanks! I didn't see anything new that I really liked.
Absolutely- sitting in a Les Scwaub recently with a daily driver tire repair, I can’t believe the amount of cheesy wheels in catalogs. I’d take a set of turbines over most new stuff out there any day of the week (actually they’re one of my favorites).

Chrome reverse, or stock with beauty rings and and baby moons are nice enough, and no one needs a loan.

And tesla does their own safety inspections. Slippery slope
