Hi There! I just joined and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm restoring my grandfather's 1980 C10. It's a slow project as I'm out of town a lot for work. It's been sitting in the garage for a decade so it needs to be gone through completely. Right now I just want to get it road worthy.
I did a super tune up a while back: New water pump, new thermostat, new hoses, new belts, new oil filter, change to synthetic oil, new spark plug wires, cleaned the carb, new plugs. Cranks and runs well now.
Next step are brakes - I have none! Pedal goes right to the floor. Two weekends ago I replaced the front brake lines. Last weekend I replaced the front calipers and the rebuilt the drums. After bleeding it, the pedal still goes to the floor, so the master cylinder is next.
It's low on transmission fluid so I guess I need to drop the pan, change the filter, change the fluid and hope that solves the leak. (Never done that before.) I also notice a few spots on the floor where the rear diff sits, so gotta check that....
I look forward to learning from you guys!
