Recently found a new windshield on the local fb marketplace. Installed it today with a new gasket.

Got ‘er back together tonight with the mixture of umbrella seals and positive locks on the valve guides. Let’s give ‘er a couple hundred miles and see what the fresh spark plugs look like. Re-lashed the valves while I was at it.

Installing a Cold Case radiator with twin 14” fans in the Blazer. Did the same upgrade on my 57 Chevy with a 383 Stroker years back and it worked wonderfully. One day I was out cruising in the 57 and got stuck in a traffic backup due to an accident. It was upper 90s but engine temps never climbed above about 200 f.

Not complete yet as you can see. Ordered a power distribution block and some other wiring goodies to make a good reliable installation. But so far everything is coming together and it’s great therapy at the end of the day as we deal with the loss of our mom.

She hasn’t ran in 5 years before tonight, boys and girls!!

Finally finished the install of the new fuel tanks and sending units today. Put the filler/vent necks on, and bought and installed a new battery since the old one was kaput, and wouldn’t take a charge.

She popped right off, and the ole fo-fiddy-fo big block was purring like a big ole kitten!

Hopefully tomorrow I’ll get the time to replace a couple rubber fuel lines on the right side tank, which are pretty dry rotted and leaky. Then I’d like to drive around the neighborhood and check everything out before I put the bed back on. Good times!

Looks like I’m going into long hibernation mode until I can figure out what my next plan is. I happened to notice a couple rocker arm studs that had more threads showing than the others, so I took it back apart for some sampling. I picked one rocker that was appropriate with all the others, then compared the stud length with one that had more threads showing. The “appropriate “ one shows a hair less than 1 7/8 length, and the one with more threads is just over 1 7/8. At some point, there has been some migration.

It wasn’t making any noise before I did the valve seals, so it could’ve been pre-existing. I just don’t want to wait until I’m driving it and hear something start hammering. Unfortunately I hadn’t paid attention before and so I have no point of reference.

I know my dad told me years ago that he had one come out on him and he hammered it back in, never gave him any trouble. Other guys have done the roll pins, and and had screw in studs too of course.

If anyone has any thoughts I’d be keen to hear it. I think the writing is on the wall though because upon looking there’s more than one doing it.

I also had one come out of place years ago, I just hammered it back in and it was fine after that. They were even heads that I had redone not long before that.

Might not work if they are cast iron but you could take a punch and peen it if they are aluminum I'd give it a shot another option is to make some serrations on the stud so it bites

Might not work if they are cast iron but you could take a punch and peen it if they are aluminum I'd give it a shot another option is to make some serrations on the stud so it bites that's just side of the road fix i can think of but then I remembered time certs drill it out and puts a oversized sleeve in there

These will be better than new there's a guy on YT that I recommended these he used then on his turbo build with Chinese heads and they were pulling out a few studs I have used them a few times on Hondas for the timing belt tensioner that has a bold just going into the soft aluminum block these are about as good as you can get another redneck option I thought of just give her a few tacks welds heat the head with a torch and send it lol just need to use high nickel flux core
