So, I have a blown heater core on this thing that I must repair. While I am doing so, I have questions on if the radiator cap caused it. Im currently running and aluminum radiator with fans and a 19# cap. Is that cap too much and caused too much stress on the cooling system. Just wondering if I need to go down. this is a rebuilt sbc 350 with a mild cam, nothing crazy. But I just dont want this to be a repeat issue moving forward. Truck has less than 1k miles on it after a total system rebuild. All new everything.

Probably not. Old heater core?

I would still drop down to a 15-16 psi cap either way.
