Hi everyone, I have a 74 GMC k10 that suddenly developed a appetite for new batteries. After being parked for 3 days a new battery is shot. 2 times in 2 weeks and 2 batteries shot. I tried the light between the ground cable and ground post and light does not come on. Any thoughts about this would be appreciated.

When you charge the battery and connect it, do you see or hear any kind of spark as the cable is attached to the battery? If its runnng down in 3 days that would seem to be enough draw to actually cause a small spark. I'd also try leaving one of the battery cables disconnected, to rule out any environmental or outside factors.

is there anything you did just prior to the issue? Install new radio, security system, etc.

I'd also check your ground cables from the battery and the hot running to the starter. Takes all of 5 minutes is why I say. Probably not the issue but you never know what you'll find.

Charge the battery disconnect the alternator park it,in 3 days see if the battery is dead. Unless you changed something in the truck the alternator is about the only thing that can cause what you are saying

Welcome from Austria. Finding electrical gremlins sucks.
