new (to me) truck's service engine soon light came on
code indicated it was likely the O2 sensor
bought a new Bosch and put it in
light stayed
called mechanic buddy and he asked what brand sensor I put in
told him Bosch and he said before I try other fixes I should replace the Bosch sensor with NTK (or pretty much any other brand) as Bosch failure rates are very high
done and fixed; hope this saves others the wasted time/$
