No... absolutely not. The APT adjustment is to adjust how much the metering rods come out under partial throttle cruise conditions. It will do absolutely nothing to adjust idle AFR. It definitely could have been worse. I joined the army to get out and they just sent me to more hot and dusty places... so once I got out I decided I wanted some cooler and wetter weather and took a job in Oregon.- Bextreme04

Yep, no machine work necessary unless the bearing spun and tore up the block. Probably won't necessarily even need all new bearings unless you can see visible gouges, but it would be good to do an inspection and know for sure- Bextreme04

Cam bearings are notorious for spinning in these motors. You wouldn't get your symptoms from that though. Yeah, oil analysis will be able to tell if there is metal and what type, but really only matters if it’s small amounts and in the process of failing. I would drain the oil and cut the filter open. Yes, needle likely fell off when you turned it over to dump the gas, it just hangs on there by the spring normally. Intake plenum gaskets
Yes, that is the idle kick up solenoid that engages when the AC is engaged. The two prong electrical connector that is next to it(not plugged into anything) is the connector for the AC compressor.
