    to the plastic portion just pops in the bracket? Depending on how i want to do things, I might even use another piece as an L bracket to extend this further down, so you could leave it as is

    Mounted so its sideways would be the best I think, so its not hanging so low. And yes, the plug off the back of my factory receptacle has the universal pin out that lets you swap the whole thing ;)
