1978 Suburban just came in to a local yard

Hey all, I check the local wrecking yard listings frequently, in the Houston, Texas area. This popped up today, yard put it out sometime yesterday. Looks like it's got plenty of good stuff left on it, to save other trucks.
This is the U Pull And Pay, in SE Houston, close to Hobby Airport. I will try to get over there soon for a closer look but not guaranteeing anything. Gotta get my truck and my stuff sorted out before my big show trip weekend after next.

Yup I don't like that they do that. LKQ gives you several angles. But these guys are cheaper on most stuff and I'm in the VIP club so I get in for $2 instead of $3: it's $5 now at LKQ.

Unfortunately in Texas, once the yard gets it on the picking lot, it's theirs. However, this company does sell used cars... maybe you could get ahold of them and see if they will sell it to you and prove me wrong....

that is how it is every where as far as I know never heard of being able to buy a vehicle before it hits the yard though

Hot damn... I wonder how good the passenger inner/outer fender and front doors are. Not sure when I'd be able to make it down there. Too many chores and family activities for me to make it in the next week or two.

I think it mostly varies with company policies. 20 or so years ago, they opened up a U-Wrench-It in south Columbus and they sold a lot of cars whole. It was simply just the managers picking which cars probably shouldn't be junked, then selling them as complete vehicles, without being "processed". Once a vehicle had been processed (fluids removed, catalyst removed, etc) and put out back on stands, it could no longer be sold as whole.

It was later bought out by Pick-N-Pull and the same policies continued. I'm not sure if they still do that or not.

But, there are at least a couple local yards that will sell anything as a whole, whether they have a title or not.

It's probably a by state thing,Kansas they have to turn over titles to the state within 30 days and can't they be sold or registered again. Kansas is kinda jacked up with some of their Title stuff,I have one truck that can never be registered again,because I said it was junk,so I could transfer the tag instead of buying a new tag. Because I said it was junk,they flagged the title.
