Kick panel Speaker Mounts

Installed a pair of kick panel speakers and they sound like crap. I don't think it's the speakers, I think it's the panels and the tiny space for the speakers. I sound deadened the sheetmetal behind the panels. Thinking about taking the panels off and sound deadening the plastic panels. Cannot run any bass thru the kick panel speakers or else the plastic panel vibrates and the speakers sound like junk. I regret spending nearly $200 for these panels. Seeing if anyone has had any luck making them sound decent or any ideas on how to do that?

Can try "bolting" the speakers to the panels instead of screws. Maybe some sealer under the flange.

Shouldn't be running bass through components anyways. That's what subs are for. Kicker isn't terrible but isn't high quality anymore.

oof i got some cheap plastic ones from ebay.... still haven't had a chance to install them. But for sure they will need sound deadning.

They look much higher quality than the $35 I spent for some $2 cheap plastic covers which I plan to reshape, reinforce and paint. I don’t expect much from them other than mid range and not cutting up my doors. Speaker functionality is highly dependent on head unit and matching speakers with head unit impedance. An amp will also boost the performance significantly but will also increase $$. Impossible to have a low $$ symphony. I would glue a thin layer of hard material (HDF) to the backside rather than sound deadening.

My stereo does have an amp and I will install a sub but there is some bass that comes thru the speakers as well. These speakers were not that expensive but the system should sound better than it does. Not sure if high end speakers would sound better.

Typically the enclosure is what makes a speaker.
