I bought a 87 3/4 ton 4x4 basket case and need someone that can read a wiring diagram good , please. It had no motor so I put in my old wood truck motor and an nv 4500. I can start it off a battery with a wire to the distributor and one off the solenoid to start. Ready to pull it in the yard to prep for paint shortly but the wire harness that come with it puzzles me a little. I am not sure how/ where the fuse block gets it’s power. I have a tan wire- oil pressure. Red and brown - alternator. Pink- distributor. Red one - block on the firewall that the wires from a/c and heater are. Heavy purple wire- I believe goes to starter small terminal. I believe I can run a big wire from back of alternator straight to battery. BUT how will the fuse block get power inside of vehicle. I have seven wires left but all are small gauge. I believe a dark green is coolant temperature. It is carbureted . I thought about fuel injection but talked myself in to the Keep It Simple Stupid route. I will include pictures of the leftover wires but really just need to know how to power the fuse box. I will get pictures of the truck soon , got the bed up on blocks now because I put new sending units and all new rubber on fuel lines . Thanks . I did read about some nv 4500 swaps here and they helped.

There should be wires thats come from the starter big wire from battery. To the fuse box or that junction box. There could be fusable links on them that might be burnt up.

My tbi if thats what may have been in there has a red wire to alternator then to the junction box then to cab. Hope that helps

I have two older harnesses and one has two wires that go on the big starter terminal and feed power to fuse box. The other one kind of looks like wiring diagrams for the truck with heavy red wire and fusible links.

I’m kind of thinking that a wire should come from the starter big terminal or the back of the alternator, but which side of the firewall junction box will go on? On top of my red with fusible link on last picture? If it came from the starter like that- then the fuse box would always have power

That wire with the fusible link on it. Does it have one big hole one small? Mine has the same thing if it does. So wire comes from battery then to alternater and then to the junction box. The junction box is hot both sides of that terminal. The wire with the big hole and small hole connector make it that way. Hope that helps

It won't let me respond to your pm for some reason but I'm about 30 minutes or so away from home and I can get you some pictures.

So I got two red wires that have fuseable links of them that go to the fuse box. And one wire that comes from alternater that's also joined to the battery. The shiny red wire is going to a relay for my msd coil.
