I can use some help diagnosing this problem. I've narrowed it down but want to make sure I'm not missing anything...

1980 GMC Suburban windshield washer motor does not pump fluid. I read a couple threads it will work when wipers are working. Wipers work but no dice on the washer engaging. There is power at both wires going to the motor on the firewall. White wire is your power and pink is ground. When ignition switch is on power is there 11 VDC (engine stopped). That coil is 9.5 ohms.

However there is a smaller plug above it With grey and black wires. With the wires unplugged multimeter is inserted. When I actuated the washer fluid toggle switch to the left it goes to a negative value of -4 VDC. And there is no ohms value for the coil where these black and grey wires go into.

Is the pink and white wires go directly into the washer fluid pump or does the black and grey wires go to it? Is the motor bad or the pump needs a good rebuilding? I did not hear any sound coming from the pump while wipers were actuacting.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I don't know yet if I have a bad motor or something else is causing it to not work.

Pink and white are the washer pump wires. I would say it's safe to guess the pump is bad.

Good to know pink and white are for the washer pump. I bought a used one that I was told was in working condition when it was pulled off years ago. I'm hoping to get lucky and the pump works along with the wiper motor. Rebuilt one is nearly $300 CAD

The wiper washer switch works by providing ground to activate the pump when you press the button, not power.
