Will a GMT400 ZQ8 steering box fit a squarebody?

I've never attempted to mock one up. It'd be interesting t find out, though, if there is some way to make it work. At some point I'll probably have to do something about mine. It's original to the truck so it's bound to give out at some point

What is this gearbox and what are the adv of getting one?

The ZQ8 option is the sport suspension. The gearbox is only 2.5 turns lock to lock.

GMT400 is the GM code for the 88-98 trucks so to answer your question yes it came on later trucks than the squares.

^^this. It would be an improvement over OEM stock on the 73-87 trucks for sure.

I don't want to be told to go aftermarket. It's not my style. I'm a little bit of an extremist when it comes to "keeping your GM truck all GM."

Well, I'm sure it probably won't be a direct bolt on but there's no harm in fabricating brackets and such. I'd be interested to see this happen and write up created

Yeah, I think it won't work at all as it looks like the SB steering box is on the outboard side of the frame and the GMT400 is on the inboard side...

Yup, but the guts can probably be swapped.
