Wheel offset question

Looking at 17x7 or 17x8 wheels for my 88 R10 burb. Emailed Jeg's and they said a 0mm offset wheel would fit my ride. I'd just like to confirm with folks that know our trucks that these wheels will fit properly. Also, a 0 offset on a 7" wide wheel would equal 3.5" backspacing, correct?

0 offset on a 7" wide wheel is 4" of backspacing.
0 offset on a 8" wide wheel is 4.5" of backspacing.

I've run both amounts of backspacing and they fit fine- but does depend on what size tire you run.

I'm going to run as close to original overall diameter as possible. I'm trying to make room for the Wilwood calipers already on the front and a disc brake setup on the back without throwing off the speedo too much or destroying the ride quality.

I just noticed you said R10 Suburban. Took a while for me to process that is a 2wd (I'm more used to the C/K instead).

I've used that backspace on a 4x4. Not sure if there would be a difference with a 2wd. Hopefully someone will chime in here.

I really just need to measure the thing and the 3 different sets of 15" rims to figure out how much of a margin I have to work with. Never understood the switch from C/K to R/V. I would have liked a 4wd, but being 2wd probably saved the body and I would have never got one with a transfer case for what I gave for mine.

Boy, them tires really stick to the road, lol. Are the running boards coming off next?

It's easier to change tires if the truck's upside down.
I'd love to ditch the running boards but it's a family hauler and mama likes 'em.

The boards looked good with the old wheels and tires, but they seem a bit out of place with the new ones, IMHO. But maybe it's just because I've never seen that combo yet.

I'm not a fan either but they are handy and probably why the body is in such good shape.
