I have this Kenwood in mine and am super pleased with it. Plays cds, Bluetooth and has USB port for a thumb drive as big as you want. For 150 bucks you can't go wrong.

:boxed: But what do you play Spotify on that Bluetooth is connected to?

I’ve always been a fan of Kenwood. The factory location in my truck has been filled with a cover plate. I have a small Kenwood unit inside a Tuffy console. Much easier to see all the buttons and controls.

I went to one of my distributors this week to look into stereo gear and ended up with all Kenwood speakers and stereo. I saw a single din stereo with a touchscreen and wireless CarPlay and android auto. The thing was super cheap and they sell a ton of them. I almost went with it for my burb but decided against it only because it only has 1 preamp output and I want to amplify all my speakers and add a sub of some sort in the future. There are several of these single din wireless CarPlay / android auto stereo options on Amazon for cheap so check those out to see what you think.

I ended up going with a Kenwood instead because of the better build quality and it has 3 higher voltage preamp outputs.

Here’s my list of parts I picked up in case you’re curious

KMM-X705 - Kenwood Bluetooth stereo

XR1701P - Kenwood 6” component set for front kick panel install

KFC-X695 - Kenwood 6x9 for rear seat panel

A600.4 - AudioControl 4 channel amp

DSR1 - Rockford Fosgate DSP

I have a Pioneer head unit that fits in the DIN opening, my dash had already been cut for it. It has a motorized 7" pop out touch screen, Apple Carplay, Android Auto, etc. It does block the HVAC with the screen out, but most of the time I leave it in anyway.

I have Kenwood Excelon dash speakers and 6x9's in the cab corners, a small Kenwood 400W amp, and a Kenwood powered subwoofer under the passenger seat.

And most importantly, a whole lot of Kilmat.

Ya, I would go with a single DINN system with a slide out screen. Something that has DVD, bluetooth, and navigation. Then you can get a parking brake bypass kit, so that the DVDs will play while the vehicles in motion. Without the bypass, you have to engage the parking brake to play a DVD. Now if you are the kind of person that that can not have a conversation with someone when there is a TV on in the room, then you may not want to install this bypass.

Depends on what your dash setup is. Did somebody before you hack into it and get it setup for a full face single din? Or still rocking the dual knobs?

If you're running the dual knobs, go with Retrosound. Yeah it's going to be pricey, but you retain the stock look, but get the functionality of bluetooth to stream music.

If it's been hacked, go with a bluetooth receiver. I was running a Retrosound in my 77 and a cheapo Walmart Dual bluetooth receiver in my 83. Was almost tempted to toss the old school AM/FM/Cassette Pioneer Supertuner III slideout chassis into the dash because well lets face it, who didn't have one of these back in the day lol.

No “parking brake bypass kit” needed. You simply tie the brake wire into the ground wire. That’s all it needs.

I’m personally not a fan of motorized screens if you are looking for something with a screen. IMO, screens don’t look right in a square, but if one must have a screen, the single DIN HUs with a floating screen from a reputable company will be much more reliable and not bounce as much going down the road.

Typically, the screen can be adjusted lower to accommodate vents, controls etc. They can also tilt, which is also a benefit given the location of a squares radio being so far below line of site.

In the '80's everybody and the brother went with Pioneer Super Tuners. Me with a liking to be different, I've always used Kenwood since then with no complaints.
