I'll add a few more pics for people to take a gander at. Here is one of the brake line through the frame.

That looks like the 80's setup for brake lines. In the 70's the line had no bracket.

This may also be a clue, this truck has dual front shocks. I mean I only have one set but it's got 2 sets of brackets. I don't know if that was any certain year option or not?

I haven't read the whole thread but here are a few things to look for.

Front crossmember that has the proportioning valve bolted to it has big holes in it from 81-87 and is solid from 73-80. This is the same with the crossmember between the leaf spring hangers.

Pull off your gauge bezel and see if there is a spot for the wiper switch. 73-83 is dash mounted and 84-87 is not.

Vin tag is in the door jam from 73-78 and on the das from 79-87.

E-brake cables are on both sides of the frame from 73-83 and only on the left side from 84-87.

Dimmer switch is floor mounted from 73-83 and column mounted from 84-87.

The quad shock option came out in 1981 I believe.

Can you look at the transmission hump? Can you slide your hand along the side and feel for some bolts? The 80's transmission humps were smooth and not bolted in. The seventies were bolted in.

You should be able to read a serial number on the dash by looking through the windshield on the drivers side. It might have a aftermarket pad installed IDK.

I think you should take a close look at the rear cross member by the bumper. I think the 80's trucks have large holes drilled through the center of them. The 70's do not. This will tell you if it is an 80's frame.

I have an 83 with a bolt in hump. Also 83 and down had the wipers on the dash. Most likely an 81'-83' with a pre 80' dash.

All 73-87 frames are basically identical except for the front bumper horns. The 73-80 are rounded and the 81-87 are cut off straight at a bit of an angle. This is really the only way to determine which era of frame you have.

A pre 80' cab would have to have the hinge openings cut into the cowl area so if it doesn't look factory there, then you know.

It is difficult to retro an 81-87 front clip onto a 73-80 cab. But easy to go the other way.

Odds are...especially if it had a VIN under the dash that it is an 81-83 truck with a 73-80 dash

Here the rear cross member and the trans hump.

Post some pics of all the cross members on that frame. Those are very unique! To say the least.

How much did you pay for this thing?

Let me guess "One piece at a time". We are officially old to know that tune!

BTW- Here is the answer, I think, to the frame question. Watch the video and look at the front cross member.

https://youtu.be/Jn4vzPkjfoo?t=1s

I am revising my guess. I say it is a late 80's 2wd body on a 80's 4wd frame with a 1976,maybe, front end. Final guess. IMHO.

Well this thread exploded and I 100% agree. Its almost impossible these days to find a unmolested squarebody unless you pay out the nose.
