I’m trying to add another gas’s tank on the passenger side the truck is supposed to be a 1973 but I think the bed is newer if anyone can let me know so I buy the right filled neck.

That's definitely a '79-up bed because '79 was the first year for gas doors instead of exposed fuel caps. I believe with that filler neck shroud, that would be a '79-84? '85-up they changed to a plastic surround that encapsulates the whole filler neck rather than just holding the top of it.

The plastic shroud started in '84. Unless my 84's original bed wasn't actually original. But I'm 99.9% positive that it was.

The bed in the pictures looks like a plastic shroud type bed, but without the plastic shrouds to me.

You are 100% correct, and yes, the plastic filler neck "shroud" is missing here.

So you need the 3-screw metal style, 1984-87 model, fuel filler to hose now too.

Gas doors are 78~79+.

I’m not sure what year the tailgate logo changed from centered to the right side but I believe it was around 81.

I don’t know of any other ways to identify the year of a bed.
That's odd, because I have two 73's a K10, and a K20, both have the doors, and both are original.

Are you the original owner of them? Gas doors didn't come along until '79.
