Just an example of a happy $4k Oregon truck to raise the spirits. I mean, it’s at a used car dealer so….gotta be a bit more than a “good deal” is worth.
Also as a comparison, the truck in question is overpriced.

PS, if you look at the interior pics, aside from being very clean, the “rust” is paint bubbling on the rockers.
And somewhat possible original paint as what are the odds someone re did the special edition hood stripes “recently” on a truck that looks original?

Wow UFB amazing the difference in condition and pricing based on location. I thought I told you to quit posting this stuff the rest of us can't get. O.P. needs to pop for a plane ticket, you can't build something for this kind of money.

**** man….if you guys weren’t friends, I wouldn’t be posting them! Hahaha
Just bought my BIL a 24 year old $2k Volvo XC70. Clean grandma rig with 130k. The only rust is the original chrome wheel lugs. Must be schitty chrome in Sweden, lol. He bought a $100 plane ticket, changed the oil, rotated the tires and drove it 1900 mi back to Rustopia. Already been offfered more $ for it.
Last $3500 truck I found for my sister, she flipped it for enough to buy another car and pay me back the $3500! Most 2012 F150s in the upper Midwest look like Swiss cheese. Saw one rusted in half last time I was back there! Look like Whistlin Diesel got to it but it was all the work of the Minnesota DOT!
I’d go roadworthy rescues on an old squarebody out here and drive it back.
Personally I don’t have the time but sounds like fun!

In my opinion, it depends on how much you want it. From the photos, I probably would grudgingly give $700 but maybe the next guy would give him $2000. It definitely needs work and NOTHING is cheep anymore. Just tires would run you $800 mounted and balanced.
Offer him what you want to pay and show him the cash. Cash talks with me.
Yeah because if that’s a $2k truck, what does 1-800-JUNK-CARs buy? Engine blocks, tires and windows?

Even with 2k in shipping across the country, not a bad deal.

Although nobody has mentioned that the original truck in question is a shortbed C10. That's probably the most expensive combination you can look for.

To be fair, that's also a 3/4 ton. Not that I agree with the notion, but I've noticed they're cheaper around here, than a similar C10. Probably add what, maybe $1,000, for a C10 in like condition?

Pretty solid looking K10 showed up in one of the neighbors driveway a few weeks ago. Original paint, classic canopy (green tinted canopy window.... matches the faded green paint lol), slotted mags...... it's been driving me NUTS. Finally had the wife track the guy down to see if he wanted to sell it. Apparently his wife inherited it from her uncle, so they think they'll do something with it, for sentiments sake? I'm gonna guess it's gonna sit right where it is for a WHILE...... before I can convince him to sell it. I figure $4k is fair, whether it runs or not. May as well add to the fleet too. We've got three kids, and the oldest will start driving in a year or so. What's one more square to work on? lol

You can't buy trucks like that around here. You suck!
Always a trade-off. We have like the 2nd or 3rd highest gas prices in the nation, and taxes to match? It's ok..... I'll take all my trucks with me when we move. lol

That C20 isn't bad, but its got its share of skeletons in the closet.

Its been bodyworked and repainted before, you can see overspray from not great masking around. Right where the lower trim and wheel arch trim meet you can see white on the wheel arch trim. With the checking and bubbles there is likely suspect body work and or rust under there or incompatible/unstable coating underneath.

I'd bet there's crustiness waiting in that firewall seam. Just the truth of it.

And its not a 79 hood, missing the front detail for the 79-80 hoods. Ironically likely one of the easiest to find as until recent years that was all that the aftermarket produced was 79-80 design hoods. The mirrors have been changed or doors changed as it has the riv nuts in the locations for the smaller tripod mirrors.

Still not a bad looking truck, likely nicer than a lot out in the Midwest/east coast, but its got its share of issues going on. Also the truck OP shared is a C10 shortbed, not exactly the same as a C20, even if it has a big block in it.

That's my plan when it's time for a rig for the GF, buy a ticket and go up to the NW for a good 4x4 crewcab/'burb/K5 that's not insanely expensive

Reminds me when i bought my truck. I wanted 4 doors longbed, which apparently was undesired in the state of GA. $3k later rest is history haha.
