What would cause fouling on just half of the spark plug?

Okay what you are calling the head gasket is the intake gasket and yes it was definitely a problem. The 2 bolts you were referring to seal water not air NBD just use washers going back together,you said you had 1 messed up bolt hole,on that 1 hole after you have the manifold on place thread a stud as deep as you can and use a washer and nut on that hole,that way yoi know your set as deep in the threads as possible.Replace the distributor gasket. Cross your fingers,swing a dead chicken in a burlap bag over your head 3 times and let her rip.

Im very happy to report that after installing Fel-Pro intake and valve cover gaskets, my engine is running great. I still need to drive it for a while and then will check spark plugs to be sure. I can already tell after the first test drive that it’s running much better with improved throttle response and starts up easier. I definitely had an intake gasket leak. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
