Had to go get some longer bolts for the quadrajet. While I was there I picked up a bolt and nut gauges. I've needed one for a long time now. This one's pretty nice and about half as much as others I've looked at. Plus it mounted on the wall.

Picked up my 27" topper today. They were swamped, even at 3pm so I took a chance on just going back to the shop without opening it. The box looked ok, and it was ok! This little thing is hefty!

Got it thrown on right before I left work. I think I’m ok with the amount of work top space I still have but we’ll see. I can always throw it on a workbench if I decide I don’t like it. It actually ended up being exactly the same height as the locker, worked out pretty good. That’s a ton of space for $200, I’m pretty stoked

The flyer for the upcoming March parking lot sale had been leaked a week ago or so-

Some pretty good deals to be had IMO

Damn that's a good deal on that 72" box. If I wasn't bleeding out buying parts at the moment...

What are your thoughts on the US General boxes? Been eyeing them since they are less spendy than Craftsman(Lowes) and Husky(Home Depot) and the other brand from Tractor Supply. Since I have no garage or shop, and it's a royal PIA to do any work on the vehicles dragging out tools and parts, that alone can take up to an hour total, then putting it all away can take even longer. Been kicking around the idea of getting a good rolling box and cart for tools and parts to make the drag out and back much more efficient.

Absolutely love them, fantastic value. Great quality, nice ball bearing slides, heavy frame and good thickness drawers. And all the different sizes and add-ons are great so you can tailor it to your needs. My dad has a MAC top and bottom box, I've had some "name brand" boxes in the past and literally the only downside to a USG vs a Snap-Off/Matco/MAC is the depth, they're 22" deep vs 24-28" of the other guys. But for something you can pay for up front (or quickly at least) rather than paying for the next 20yrs on, they're awesome. Plus they're on sale alot. I only paid full price for the 56", everything else I've grabbed here and there when it was on sale, so I'm only in this current setup $1,450.

I've had their 5-drawer cart in the past, my coworker has their 44" box and now I have this 56" and 27" with the other add-ons. We wheel them around the shop all the time and I'm in and out of mine ALOT. Never had any issues with the slides or drawers, have yet to overload anything. I have never once disliked anything about these boxes. And the lack of depth is easily made up for with a side cabinet or locker or another box. IMO the Craftsman and Husky are quite a bit lower quality than the USG (other than the Husky Professional line or whatever they call it, those seem to be nice quality but they're much more expensive and harder to find to play with before ordering). I'd highly recommend picking up whatever box fits your needs and then one of the carts to roll stuff to and from wherever you're working.

Good to know. I need to roll mine across mostly dirt, so the casters need to be good or replaceable. Looks like a trip to HF is in order

I echo his statement. Now, I haven't moved/used mine to the degree Huck has, but I'm well pleased with my setup. Especially, since I'm all in at just under $1k. I bought the whole rig when they were clearancing for the new Series 3. It was a tremendous value and seems built better than most of the stuff out there. I recommend greasing the slides though, cheap insurance and definitely helps.

I'll add that I have been very pleased with my US general boxes, I've had the gen 2 72" since 2021, the 5 drawer cart since 2023 and recently added the single drawer cart.

I'd replace the black Homak box I use at the shop with another 72" but it was my grandfather's box and is sentimental, and I don't have enough room for both up there.

The Craftsman, DeWalt, Husky and other big box offerings don't really compare in my opinion, way lighter builds than the USG boxes. The MasterForce boxes that Menards sell (the 72" one at least) are made my Montezuma and are nice boxes, but Menards doesn't exist that far west.

Depending on your needs and space, the 5 drawer cart that will be on sale for $190 is an excellent value. I believe I've seen folks putting larger pneumatic wheels on them for use "off road"

I also recommend you get the inside track membership and shop the sales. You can save a good amount if you time it right. Also, the Harbor Freight credit card is nice for the rewards and six months same as cash. A big buy = big rewards so free money for your next purchase.

I used to have the inside track but I don't shop there but every 2 to 5 years. I will most likely buy the box at regular price, but will check for a sale to the regular peeps beforehand. Only one credit card, debt free, want to keep things liquid. I do appreciate the insight and recommendations though
