For me I want a round headlight swb 2wd, not sure whether I want 79-80 headlight buckets and lower grille trim or the 73-78 stuff, definately want chrome sport bumpers or a roll pan out back, NO front roll pan, I think maybe a 4 inch cowl, not sure, maybe something else, nice motor, be it a cammed small block, big block, blower motor, whatever, something with good power and torque. I guess if it could be anything a blown big block like a 572 or bigger. Stick shift for sure, bucket seats, maybe a roll cage, big stereo system, tubbed back end with wide cragar ss's maybe some 12 or 14's if they got em that wide, fat tires to match maybe 325's or something. Not sure on color and paint maybe flames, definately lowered, euro headlights, turn signals and tails, the chrome ones. Maybe shave the markers on the side not sure, hard bed cover, deep and loud mufflers, probably some cherry bomb extremes. Lowered for sure. Not sure on much else maybe shaved mirrors and handles or maybe just one or the other shaved, if I have mirrors not sure whether I'd stick with dumbo mirrors or the small ones.

So basically unsure, just a 73-80 2wd swb fleetside, forgot that part, v8 and stick shift with about a 4.11 rear end and posi.

I would never be able to pick just one. There would be three, the ones I have now... except with more power under the hood and they would be in perfect condition.

Maybe someday, lol.

My dream truck is exactly what I have which is pictured below for those who haven't seen it. The reason is because growing up my Grandpa owned a 79 long bed (although it was only a v6) and I have very fond memories of him taking me for rides in it around town and out to the farm and that kind of thing. I was very disappointed when he sold before I was 16. He didn't know how much I loved it and that I wanted it otherwise he would have just given it to me. If it wasn't for that I'd probably be more drawn to the lowered short beds.

That IS a nice truck! I've always been a fan of the 3+3's. I'd like to get one but make it a short bed 3+3 and then update the interior with one from today's trucks! That way you get the great looks of the square body but comforts of today :)

Thanks! It was pretty stripped as for options, it was a USAF truck that was pretty well beat when I bought it. All vinyl / manual interior, the only options I can remember it having was auto and a/c. I'll admit even after a lot of body work it wasn't perfect but it was pretty and a fun eye catcher.

Someone in Wyoming has it now, I've often wondered if it was still taken care of or a beat up wheeler.

I've found that with any truck I've sold in the past NEVER gets taken care of the way I took care of them. They almost always got beat to hell after I sold them. I had an extremely clean 95 ext cab I sold a couple years ago. I saw it about 3 weeks later driving down the road and had a HUGE dent in the passenger side and the driver side mirror had been ripped off. I just shook my head that some people just can't have nice things and keep them nice to save their life.

I would love to have an early seventies SWB 2wd like the Holley Shop Truck that was just written up in Classic Trucks. So-Cal Speedshop did it up right with an LS6 dressed like a vintage BBC and left the outside alone! I have always loved the "muscle truck" look.

I'm with bucket. I'd not be able to pick just one. I have several of these now, and they are all in project stage currently. I currently have 2 C20's both Silverados, a K10 Silverado and a Suburban C20 Silverado. The K10 is being upgraded to all 3/4 ton axles and springs also. If I could find a 4x4 Burb in decent shape, I'd give up my K10 project.
But if I had to choose one, I'd probably go for a lifted Suburban K20 Silverado with front buckets powered by a non computer Cummins and NV4500 with 14 bolt FF rear and D60 front axle.

I'm not sure I can even pick one dream truck, I like too many and have a broad range of tastes. But later tonight I'll dig through my photobucket and see what I can find...

Mine would be a brand new, off the showroom floor, 1973 Stepside, big block, auto. Stock except for exhaust, corvette ralleys and lowered 3,3.

If my truck was restored I could live with it, but the true dream would be to have a nice diesel in it with a reliable transmission that has an overdrive. Updating the plow from the current speedcast unit to a minute mount would be nice. An upgrade to one ton axles and swapping the interior out for buckets and a console would probably round it out because non A/C trucks need cupholders. :anitoof:
